i agree he was holding petersons head down, and in a headlock...but y not take the points for that thats more of an offense appose to a push? Poor refereeing this fight! no credit taken from perterson he went in there like a bull and put in work on khan. i just dont see him winning without the bull**** 2 point deduction for pushing. A big fight like this shouldnt be decided by petty pushes!! i disagree with the 2 point deduction and the end result...but once again cong**** to peterson for going in there and fightin his ass off and applying effective pressure. TRUTH IS IF PUSHIN WAS A BIG DEAL COTTO WOULDA GOT DEDUCTED POINTS FOR PUSHIN MARGAS OFF HIM LAST WEEKEND MULTIPLE TIMES! I THINK THAT WAS TERRIBLE WHAT THE REF DID
HBO announcer bias is getting out of hand...

Better watch again. The first knockdown was the ref. Second knock down was him being off balance and he tried to steady himself on the ropes, but touched the canvas.Yes, the referee was garbage. But he scored Khan with a knockdown in the first round that replay clearly showed was a trip : Khan landed a hook as Lamont was trying to retreat with Amir's leg behind him, so the shot caused Peterson to trip over Khan's leg going backwards.
In general, it was a poorly refd fight. One could argue the first knock down would have occurred even without the ref getting tangled because Peterson was off balance.Take that into mind, and Peterson was only "gifted" one point by the referee. And I don't really see that as a gift, either. As the referee warned Khan multiple times about pushing and holding Peterson's head down.
Granted he should have called a timeout to officially warn Amir that he was close to having a point deducted as all referees do, but one point deduction was clearly warranted, IMO.
One could point out a knockdown was missed because Peterson repeatedly got very low to the canvas and actually touched a knee while getting hit.
Or that he was causing a lot of the issues by coming below cup level with his head or body. That incites trying to push the guy off you or down.Comment

There's a simple answer for why this happens : Fanboys are fucking ******ed, illogical, nonsensical, vapid spunk swallowers.
If the guy in retreat is the guy they want to win : It's mad skillz, yo.
If the guy in retreat is the guy they don't want to win : He's a "runner", "coward", "pussy", "didn't do enough to take the title", etc....
I'm actually ashamed of most of the "fans" here. It seems like this place is nothing more than a virtual gathering of the sports most shamless nuthugging fans, as opposed to the place that it actually once was : A virtual gathering of fans who had their favorites, but kept it real and discussed boxing logically.Comment

uh huh yet how many times do people get deducted 2 points for all those things that illegal? You cannot hit below the belt, hold, trip, kick, headbutt, wrestle, bite, spit on, or push your opponent.
and these weren't little shoulder push offs. these were more like 2 handed shoves to create distance. combine that with all the other fouls khan was committing to prevent peterson from coming inside and they were legit deductions. he committed about as many fouls as mares did against agbeko. they just were different fouls. holding his head down, headlocking him, pushing him off. they are all related to creating distance and they are all dirty.
**** clinching is technically illegal but it's part of the game.
that ref was bogus.Comment

did he get deducted 2 points for it?
then what's the problem?
come in and crowd with your head if you want but the other guy has the right to push you off too.Comment

Another good point is when was the last title fight 2 points were deducted for some common place things?
I can't think of one. Clinching, rabbit punching, wrestling, etc is all part of boxing.Comment
