Bottom line : It was a close fight, but Khan's cheerleaders are going to cry "robbery" despite the closeness of the contest, and use the referee's poor job as an excuse to "justify" their claims of a robbery.

Take away the bullshit knockdown in the first round, as well as both point deductions, and the fight was still closely contested.

I thought this fight was closer than Marquez vs Pacquiao III (I had Marquez winning) ... Now I get to see a lot of guys that were saying that Pacquiao won because Marquez was "running" saying that Khan won ... I just don't get it...

I trust Steward's response over those guys and Steward said that the point deductions were not the right call. And as correctly pointed out, pushing is a minor offense, and for a repeated minor offense, any good referee tells the fighter...."if you do that again, i'm going to take points"

And it's not as though the ref didn't mess a few low blows from Peterson, didn't get himself tangled up in the 1st round, etc, etc, etc.

In general, poor referee IMO.

When did Steward say this because he was not part of the announce team tonight? The referee also missed all the low blows Khan threw when Peterson started to apply effective pressure.

You cannot hit below the belt, hold, trip, kick, headbutt, wrestle, bite, spit on, or push your opponent.

and these weren't little shoulder push offs. these were more like 2 handed shoves to create distance. combine that with all the other fouls khan was committing to prevent peterson from coming inside and they were legit deductions. he committed about as many fouls as mares did against agbeko. they just were different fouls. holding his head down, headlocking him, pushing him off. they are all related to creating distance and they are all dirty. he shouldn't get a new set of warnings for fouling for the same basic reason.

I thought Khan should of won this fight pretty easily but I don't know what he was trying to prove showing that Peterson couldn't hurt him...and Khan's inside game is garbage...
