Comments Thread For: Mares Confident: I Feel I Can Beat Nonito Donaire

After his dominating performance against Joseph "King Kong" Agbeko in their rematch last weekend, undefeated IBF and WBC Silver bantamweight champion Abner Mares (23-0-1, 13 KOs) has beaten just about every top bantamweight thrown his way.

I don't see it, Mares beating Donaire that is. Maybe I'm in the minority but I wasn't one bit impressed with his performance against Agbeko in the rematch, wasn't impressed with either guy actually. Lets get Moreno-Mares done first, Oscar said he's willing to make it but not anytime soon, it's a fight that holds alot of importance. Hopefully him and his team decide to stay at 118.

I can't say NO chance, but I'd be very surprised. I'm confident Donaire not only wins, he knocks Mares out.

Not a chance, I am not impressed at all with Abner Mares. Hes a good fighter, decent skills, but I just see nothing special with him. He squeeked by Vic, he squeeked by Agbeko....oh and he's a dirty fighter too. He throws more low blows and rabbit punches that most fighters I have seen. He is just one of those fighters that is good but just not elite, and he does not leave an impression either. He is not beating Donaire, period. Also he does not have good power either, which is another strike against him.
