Norwood was his first title shot, career wise he was young.
he lacked aggression and didn't get the decision.
He started changing his style after that fight.

basing his whole adaptive skills on one fight .. out of 60 is plain silly.

LOL they both got hit in that exchange and Floyd got the best of it because he was leaning back from that right hand but Marquez ran into his left hook.

Regardless of who won the John fight, where did he display his adaptability in that fight? How about the Barrera fight? A fight that many people think Barrera should have won.

The point is when he fights boxers, his boxing skills don't look so good, he looks pedestrian. He only looks great against brawlers.

We have seen Floyd outbox other boxers.

The only thing that Marquez has that Floyd doesn't, is 24 rounds of experience with Pac. Floyd won't shut Pac down 12-0 cuz it'll take him a couple rounds to adapt to Pac. If Pac hasn't done anything significant before the 6th round, then it's a fore-gone conclusion. Pac won't be able to overwhelm Floyd with his speed like he does everyone else, that's his biggest advantage. This is Floyd's fight to lose. *******s won't even be able to use the CompuBox as a justification cuz Pac's numbers will be abysmal.

Casamayor is known as a boxer but JMM handled that well.

In the Diaz I fight, JMM realized that he could land the uppercut and started to throw them more as the fight progressed. He also knows how to feint better than almost any other boxer out there. He lands certain punches and then feints those punches to land other punches that he couldn't land before.

Come on, you know Casa was over the hill and the fight was pretty even before he hurt Casa and finished him.

imo, Marquez counters beautifully while Floyd counters defensively.

I say it because most of the time Floyd punches/counters and then move out of the way/reach of the opponent or blocks. Marquez stays in range after punching/countering so that he can counter again and that's beautiful for me.

The biggest difference between Floyd and Marquez in regards to their counter punching skills is the fact that JMM counters with combinations while Floyd counters with one or two punches. People are acting like this gives JMM an advantage over Floyd but it doesn't. JMM's willingness to counter with combinations leaves himself open for attacks. Whenever he would open up against Pac he would get caught with punches. Floyd lands his punches then immediately goes back into his defensive stance, this makes it harder to hit Floyd cleanly. Marquez takes risk which is why he ends up on his a$$ nearly every time he faces a decent puncher. Floyd would never get dropped by a guy like Katsidis.

The differences between Floyd and JMM are what's going to make Floyd a much more difficult fight for Pacquiao than JMM was. Floyd is bigger, quicker, better defensively, and takes a better punch than JMM. His unwillingness to trade also makes it more difficult for his opponent to find openings.
