I don't think Cotto could pull that one on Chávez Jr.

Junior is NOT a just a kid from the slums, with a rough childhood, using boxing as a way to get out of poverty. Junior was born a millionaire, and is the son of Mexico's most loved boxing legend.

enough with this catchweight bs. If youre going to call out a middleweight, fight a middleweight, not a weight drained corpse.

either you can beat him or you cant. calling for catchweights is just a pathetic way of saying 'I cant beat you at your natural weight, I need a handicap'.

Same day weight in. Other than that is absurd.

          +1

This would be by far the best option.

Cotto can't get Chavez due to weight issues. Sergio is focused on Macklin. Pac is locked up with May/Bradley/Marquez. Cotto will have to probably keep it in-house since he praises Arum so much and end up fighting Vanes.

Bleh...Vanes. He doesn't interest me in the slightest. I remember cringing when I heard that Vanes would be a possible late replacement for Margarito if he couldn't get a license in NY.

I don't think Cotto should step into the ring against Jr. I'm a bodybuilder I know what is like ona day to day basis to cut bulk ect. Most people don't know how weaker loosing 2 to 5 pounds can make u. The problem here is that Jr. will not be able to fight at a catch weight that althought they suck in reality is fair. Cotto does not have the type of body and or strengh and conditioning coach that would allow him to gain good size and speed. That's another thing why do people relate weight gain to being slower? If done the right way it is exactly the opposite especially hen it comes to leg strengh. Athletes actually become faster and more explosive when gaining weight the right way. I just don't see Cotto being able to put on good mass and strengh, Cotto is younger than he looks the guy in terms of boxing is old. To put on the size he needs at Middle Weight he would need faster recovery times and I think his body is not able to push itself to that limit now. On the other hand Jr. is not going to agree to a catch weight that low(155 or 156) This is a no win situation for Cotto. Jr. could weight 20 more pounds on fight night I dont care if people consider Jr. a bum he is still a pro fighter with a 20 pound advantage that would mean trouble for anyone.

I'm not too crazy about this match up. Cotto could win it, but Chavez Jr. is just so damn big.

NO! I can't stand all these catchweights! Shit is killing Boxing. Either Cotto moves up to MW or Chavez can come down to JMW or fuck the fight.
