Sure cotto did well against judah and mosley cuz those guys fight in bursts they have lapses in intensity
Two things beats Cotto PRESSURE and CONSISTENCY. Mosley could have beat Cotto but he was trying to out box Cotto and when he decided to pressure him it was too late in the fight for Shane. Zab Judah opened Cotto's mouth and had Cotto wobbly. Two good wins for Cotto but he was in trouble both times at certain points. Cotto was putting fighters out but once his competition started to get stepped up, he became less confident because his punch was being taken away. Cotto has always relied heavily on his punching power and once that was gone then he would get a lil discouraged and could never switch his fight game on impulse. Clearly Cotto was the better fighter than Margarito in the first fight but he could not adjust to the pressure. Happy that Cotto beat Margarito in the rematch but against guys like Mayweather and Martinez...... Dude would get beat up severly. I'm a lil hesistant about him rematching Pac because styles make fights and while JMM had success, Cotto might not. He just can't committ to a game plan and is too open. I think Pac beats him again.

Give it up Sergio. Stop looking for these little guys who started at 130 and 140. How about moving up and fighting the Super 6 winner? Or Lemieux, Rubio, Chavez, Pirog, Sturm, etc? Lots of fights that don't have to do with fighters who are 5 foot 7.

Yeah Sergio! Even though Bob Arum (Cotto's promoter) is looking to make a fight with Cotto and the guy you are supposed to fight(Chavez Jr), who is ducking you at middle weight and is way bigger than Cotto and probably even you because you spent longer at 154 then 160.

Cotto has the hand speed that can make him very competitive against Martinez, Cotto has the body attack that can weaken Martinez. Most of all Cotto has a great jab (the best in boxing) which would give Martinez trouble. Martinez has the habit of fighting with his hands down by his side, he has made it a real bad habit, but he has been getting away with it because he has faced much slower fighters. Cotto would capitalize on this and it could be a fatal flaw for Martinez. He would not get away with keeping his hands down against someone as skilled as Cotto. Cotto would easily land jabs, right hands, left hooks. Plus Martinez will have trouble with Cotto's quick powerful jab. The way Martinez leans forward with his head and hands down, he has no way of getting out of the way of a fast hard jab. I definitely give Cotto the edge in this fight. I would not be surprised of a late rd ko.

Martinez is a good fighter, but his best wins have not been against the best boxers and they have been against fighters with real defensive problems. Williams has no defense, Pavlilk had numerous flaws that have been exposed over and over. Cintron of course we all know his flaws. And in Martinez's last fight he was hittable.

If he fights Cotto it will be the most difficult challenge of his career. It will not be a blow out and he will not out class Cotto. I think Cotto will be able to neutralize all of Martinez's strengths and he will capitalize on all of Martinez's bad habits.

Are you justifying something based on what ARUM wants?

What Arum wants Arum gets. Top Rank fighters always say "Talk to my promoter" Bob got them on smash.

He lost maybe 2 decisions along the way but every win was by KO until he gets caught trying to cheat. After that, he loses 3 out of 4 fights........2 by KO....you don't think that's odd?

Anyways, Martinez would retire the dude for good.....because he is a man, a great boxer who earned what little fame he has the hard way- he didn't have some television network blowing hot air up the fans arses to build him up. He even got robbed twice and held his head high to prevail..............like a CHAMP does.

Lots of haters. Beating the less accomplished Pirog will not get him any new fans.

How about this, Barker vs Pirog? If Pirog can beat one of Martinez's "easy" leftovers, then maybe the fight can happen.
Well said. Pirog may be the goods. Lord knows, everyone I know seems to think so. I missed his amateur career and while I'm impressed with what he's done thus far, I'm not quite sure how that warrants the Sergio is ducking him talk. Barker-Pirog would be a nice matchup on a Martinez undercard. Someone pitch that to HBO

Because hes the biggest threat to Sergio in his division?

If Sergio is not getting a money fight with Floyd, Pac (lol) or Cotto, then he should be fighting Pirog.
