Most of the time you are on point. But hell no, Margarito was not getting to Cotto. 2008 round 9, Tony 47 punches, 2011 23 and most of them were sloppy arm punches. Cotto push Tony to the ropes, he hit the crisper, cleaner and harder punches. There was a difference and Cotto was on his way to KO Tony.

I started to reply to xAUGUSTUSx, and then I just shook my head and face-palmed..... people see what they want to see, and hear what they want to hear.

There is nothing to indicate that Cotto was fading, and there is nothing to indicate that Margarito was coming on...... cheato was unable to break Cotto down as he did in the first fight, and would likely have been stopped himself before the night was out.

BTW, because of jrosales insistence that Margarito is not a cheat, I have resolved to only refer to him as "cheato", for the rest of my life.

the wins aren't comparable....I'm happy for Cotto but his win isn't greater.

And Cotto took it back. Margo laffs getting ko'd, it's a pride thing. You know, when guys get hit and smile, you know it connected good. Thanks for being happy for Cotto. I give both guys credit. Marg still got a good chin and it showed. And his will is not to be questioned.

Call it what you will...... but cheato was beaten like a dog until his eye closed up and he was deemed unable to continue.

Listening to Marg fans refer to that fight like cheato almost won is hilarious.

He lost every single round and got his eye closed from a sustained beating at the hands of Cotto..... he did not win the 9th round, or even close, Cotto was not fading, and Margarito was not coming on.

That is a fanboy " hope ", that is highly unlikely to have eventuated.

Margarito had been completely unable to break Cotto down over the course of the fight like he did in the first.

Margarito stopped Cotto, but there is a question mark over that achievement..... Cotto stopped Margarito earlier, with no question mark.

Look I'm Mexican/American and I call it like I see it:

Cotto was going to win that night and everyone who can view boxing without a nationalistic shield could see that as soon as the fight was announced for the following reasons:

1.Margarito's eye is permanently damaged

2.Cotto has improved since there last fight

3. Both men are getting past their prime it's just that Marg is already there

Now I don't agree that this is Cotto's biggest win (that was his victory over Shane Mosley) but I think the sigificance of this fight is important for his legacy which sounds hypocritical but let me explain.

Cotto has always had a follwing but we all know that it paled in comparison to such Puerto Rican greats like Wilfredo Gomez and more recently Tito Trinidad, he always needed a pitch and a element that could make him more than just a puerto rican favorite, he needed something to make him bigger and almost heroic. That happend on Saturday and even though the sigificance is slightly lessened when you consider the fact that both men are at a crossroads (Margs probably less than that now) but since Arum and co sold this Villain Vs Hero angle so perfectly it became an event and now Cotto is in a hero position that he had lacked to a certain extent throughout his career in other words he always had love but now that has reached a higher level.

Margarito will always have a black eye associated with him both literally and figuratively he will be in the same class as Luis Resto and others who have tarnished and hurt the sport and irregardless if he used those wraps before he fought Mosley or if his trainer did it as a one time thing there will always be doubts and that's what Margarito and his fans and critics will have to live with for the rest of their lives.

I think the whole element of lambasting Mexican or other fans of Margarito is unnecesary since we all know what a sick role nationalism and favoritism plays when it comes to the sport of Boxing and if the situation was reversed I think we all know that this argument would be just as crazy and riddled with racism and other less than favorable comments. It's just that the rammifacations are quite huge and I think that if you look at the way people can still support say A-Rod or Kobe Bryant despite the accusations and claims are people any less good or bad for supporting the Bad guy who maybe is not all that bad beyond the marketing that can be biased?

All in all congratulations to Miguel Cotto he fought like a champ and he won like a champ doctor stoppage or no doctor stoppage the result is the result.

Hardcore fans on all sides of the world will disagree with me on some or maybe all of my points and that's ok that the beauty of an opinion we all have one for better or worse but I respect that it's there.
