I think Canelo is an easier fight for Cotto than Chavez jr.

Chavez jr has improved a lot over the years whether people want to recognize it or not. He's turned out to be a fine boxer. Besides that, the obvious hurdle for Cotto is Chavez' size. He's 6′0 with a 73″ reach. Plus he typically rehydrates 15 pounds or so.

Canelo on the other hand isn't nearly as tall and rangy as Chavez and imo his chin is still suspect, I still recall the smaller Jose Cotto putting Canelo on ***** street and making him hold on for dear life for a round or so. Of course, that was a couple years ago and Canelo has also improved since then, but still the question remains how he'll take a punch from a really good fighter.

I'm not saying Cotto would blow away Canelo, but after thinking about it I'd like my chances more versus Chavez.

I think Cotto easily handles both of them, and this is something I've felt even before Cotto-Marg II.

Co-signing all day Jr was outboxing Manfredo his last time out. He has become better. He's too big for Cotto & Cotto won't hurt him. Canelo is just an overrated protected weak a$$ champion.

Canelo actually reminds me of Cotto, if Cotto was stationary & winded before the 6th, he'd be Canelo. No head movement & too protected.

I agree, even tho Canelo is a superior boxer than Chavez Jr. Unless Cotto makes Chavez go down to 155.

I like Cotto vs Canelo because cotto gets to avenge his brother's loss. and the two styles of each fighter is guaranteed to make fireworks.

Canelo is much more skilled than Chavez Jr and I think he would beat Cotto. The size difference against Jr would be a problem but Cotto would still beat Jr fairly easily.

Canelo is waaay heavy handed and has more speed than Margie. Not that good of a chin though since Cotto's brother had him hurt

It's easy to overrate a roach fighter because of his matchmaking skills, and ability to exploit weaknesses and flaws(he's useless as a trainer when the opponent doesn't have many)

Canelo is faster, more explosive, and much more intelligent(intelligence wins fights)- all things cotto has trouble with. Not to mention he has considerable power- probably more than cotto has ever seen because he's a solid Middleweight.

The only advantage I see for chavez is his size and endurance.

Honestly though, I don't think either of them are ready for cotto. I'd like to see Canelo fight Kirkland first and the winner gets cotto.

I dont see anything special with chavez whatsoever.

I for one actually think both are tough fights for Cotto. Those guys are naturally a lot bigger than Cotto. People forget he comes from 140.
