If Chavez fights on the outside (and uses his height) like he did against Manfredo, he could give Cotto some trouble. If Chavez goes Margarito mode and puts pressure, he he could give Cotto some trouble. Assuming Cotto weights 160-165 on fight night, Chavez will have 15-20 pounds him. Combine his weight advantage with his generally iron chin , I have a tough time seeing Cotto being able to hurt him.

The thing is that Chavez has gotten huge as **** since last year. Maybe he was interested before, but I think seeing that HBO fight night weight would scare off any 154 pounder from making his first fight at middleweight against Chavez. And we all know how undisciplined Chavez is so it's not like he's going to lose extra weight even with a 155 catch weight.

Chavez needs to fight his mandatory first so Cotto isn't next at least. My prediction is that Martinez will just drop the issue and fight Macklin. Chavez will then fight Rubio. Or Chavez vacates so no belt.
