Marg is the same way and I hate to say it but Rios will be the same. It's just exciting to see them and the type of fights they give the boxing public.

There's a reason Marg was the most feared man in boxing for a while but those days are long gone.
true true... yea definetely rios i think isin his prime right now and when he starts facing elite competition like the jmm of the world, it'll start taking a grave effect on him (not saying he doesn't face good opposition people)

Margarito needs to retire because of the eye and work hard on Tornado promotions...

I gave Cotto all the props in the world but not once did I see Marg hurt in this fight. Unless I was watching something else you were. He was hit hard, stumbled from the physical blow but he was never hurt in the sense of being rocked like someone who was on the verge of being KO'd.

Cotto isn't the same fighter as before and I have stated that many times. I think he did a GREAT job in clinching and moving in angles. I haven't taken anything from Cotto but extremists like you fall in the category or "cotto ran" or "Marg was on the verge of being knocked out"

          Neither was true.
Cotto boxed his ears off and Marg continued to come forward and still showed he can take a great shot.
Precisely. A lot of posters tend to see things black and white after a fight unfortunately. It was not "Cotto ran" nor was it "Margarito was going to get KO'd". Terrific post.

The reality is Marg's eye just can't hold up anymore and Cotto fought a completely different fight on Saturday. He moved a lot more and he never really got into trouble or stuck on the ropes for a long time until maybe the fourth round or so. He was tired (no doubt) because of the pressure but Cotto DID NOT allow Margarito to work by constantly moving. I still think Margarito can shred you to pieces when you're against the ropes, which is why "shell defense" Clottey lost the later rounds against Margarito by letting him tee off on him in their fight, thus setting the Guinness World Record for punches thrown in a fight (1,600+). Margarito has his best moments if you stay stationary. He hurt Pacquiao against the ropes in the sixth and eighth rounds against the ropes, he teed off on Clottey against the ropes, whenever he hurt Cotto in the first fight it was against the ropes...etc, etc...

I agree. Those styles take a lot out of you. They're more crowd-pleasing, but it takes a toll sooner or later. It's perhaps similar to Mayorga/Gatti. However, Ríos is MUCH more straightforward than those two. He's only got one gear and it's blazing.

I agree on everything but I think Rios has more than 1 year. He's still young and he will see some wars and they will be great. I can tell you right now anyone at 140lbs does not want to see Rios because win or lose, you are in for an ass whoppin...hahaha
