    Cong**** to Cotto fans

Cotto put on a great performance and I don't want to say I told you so but I knew going to the body wasn't in the game plan for Cotto. He just needed to give angles and clinch.

Excellent job by him and Pedro Diaz in their preparation. I loved the way he moved, clinched on the inside and for the most part kept his back off the ropes.

I do think Marg was getting stronger as the fight wore on but it wasn't the same as the first fight because Marg couldn't connect the way he did the first time. He was missing a lot and his body shots weren't there for this fight. Cotto moved non stop and kep Marg from really touching him much.

Cotto was on his way to a UD easily, even though I think the last rounds would have been the toughest for him but he was looking much fresher because he wasn't getting hit as much as in the first fight.

Margarito is DONE. He looked like he was throwing punches underwater. He was never fast but he just looks like a worn fighter. No movement of the head like before, he wasn't catching any of Cotto's jab's or right hands. He was just coming forward with a slow jab and was being countered easily with a right hand.

I don't know whether Marg cheated in his fight with Cotto and I don't think this fight can tell you much of that because Marg really didn't connect like he did in the first fight but perception is everything. The perception is he did, he failed to redeem himself and Marg's career sad for me to say, is tainted and done.

It was a shame the fight ended on the eye swelling but I posted on Friday saying I thought that was one of my worries.

To all of you I owe e-points, let me know how much I owe. Tinta I think I owe you 1 million or is it 10 million? Don't know let me know.

    Agree with every word.

Margarito definitely looks shop worn unfortunately. The man is ALL heart though, he's borderline insane in there.

I do think a lot of it was in the gameplan. I honestly think that if Cotto was prepared like this for the first fight he would have taken less damage in the beginning of the fight and would have gotten the really tough UD.

Agreed that this does nothing to prove or disprove the cheating allegations.

Agreed that Diaz deserves major props.

Sucks, but Margarito is done. That eye is going to swell like that in every fight from here on out. I'm not positive if he's done as a fighter in terms of being able to get off and what not, but that eye just won't hold up long enough to break people down.

Cheers to a great career for Tony. At this point, we need to just put the plaster **** to the side, Tony gave us a lot of entertainment and left it all in the ring every time out.

And cong**** to Cotto for fighting a smart fight and sticking to a simple, yet effective gameplan.

        Cuah,

Much respect as always for being a true boxing fan. I was actually worried for this fight. Margarito is trouble for anyone not named Pacquiao. I noticed wear and tear, but the truth is it was Cotto who changed entirely and fixed the flaws that needed fixing. Margarito assumed it would be business as usual, and that's where they went wrong. Had Cotto not made adjustments it would have been 2008 all over again.

I'm glad Cotto got a measure of payback, and I'm also happy to see that while he is no longer prime, with adjustments, he can still remain competitive for a while. We have no one else at the elite level...

definite good night. i was in a bar in philly and there were too many cotto fans there. so it was my duty to be that blatant margarito fan. made the night so awesome. i booed so loud when they'd show cotto on the TV and go ****en bananas when margs come on. no one dared look me in the face, phhfffft, philly. the social experiment there was that there was an immediate connection made between my self and the psycho from tijuana and no one wanted any part of it. or am i looking into it too much? in any case, great fight(s).

          cotto fought a great fight.

Green and props for not being a ****. Very good fight by both, too bad Margs eye won't allow for a third fight.

I'm never a ***, I don't get involved with the PR vs Mexico thing....never have.

I call it like I see it and sometimes people take it in the wrong way. Like I said, no disrespect to Cotto but Marg is so finished it's not even funny.

Cotto made great adjustments and didn't get lured into a brawl but Marg throws so slow and has zero defense.

You could see Cotto really hates Marg but I do want to give Cotto props for not saying something disrespectful about Mexico or Mexican fighters because he was asked all the time by the press and he didn't get caught up in that.

Cotto is a class guy but I think if they do make Cotto vs Mayweather it's something I will not bother to watch because Cotto has zero chance.

IMO the only REAL mega fight that needs to made is Mayweather vs Martinez at a catch weight of 150.

Pac can't beat him, Cotto can't beat him.....only Martinez has a chance in beating Mayweather.

Bro ur the shyt for being honorable even in defeat. Green K.
Have to disagree with you on the championship rounds. At the end of 9 it looked like Cotto was setting Margarito up for something BIG(same way he was laying traps for Mayorga before he finished him off in 12)which probably explained why he was getting caught with weak(smothered)shots when he pinned Tony down and unleashed upstairs.
Remember, working the eye was their strategy, and even if the fight would have worn on, Cotto was still using his leverage to walk Margarito back against the ropes and tee off with hard, accurate combinations, then rinse and repeat. It was only a matter of time before it became the Pacquiao fight all over again. Margarito's punches weren't hurting Cotto and he was getting getting small breaks to conserve his stamina. Margarito is lucky the fight was waved off... nothing good would have come from going the full 12(if Cotto even allowed it to go that far)win or lose. Retiring while you're ahead(healthy), is not the same thing as retiring.
