withoout his plasters cheato couldnt do squat

cotto showed why he is rated above mayweather in the ATG list

    excellent movement
    excellent hit and move tactics
    excellent left and right combo
    excellent jab

cotto needs to destroy martinez and mayweather- then rematch pacquiao- i think he has a chance if manny is starting to lose it

cotto is definately above mayweather in the all time greats list for me though

he fough moseley when moseley was still on steroids and still owned him
he only lost to cheato because cheato was cheating
pacquiao was at his majestic best

Cotto was starting to get tired in the ninth but margarito hardly looked like he could take advantage. Especially when cotto kept siding to his left to get clean shots off.

As a Cotto fan I was worried after round 5 as the Margarito pressure did seem to be catching up with Miguel and it looked like the first fight all over again. However after getting through the next couple of rounds and once he had Margarito's right eye fully closed, he was again in charge and boxing Margarito's ears off. It was a Cotto masterclass last night and proves he's still a top 10 p4p.

Even Garcia was telling him "Don't chase him, cut the ring off". But of course, Margarito doesn't know how to do that. He came in and fought the same fight thinking Cotto couldn't make adjustments, and he was wrong. He used some of the tactics Mosley used (clinching, pushing off when he got inside). Cotto may have not rocked Margarito or dropped him, but his eye / face told the story. Margarito thought he could get into Miguel's head and he failed. Cotto's footwork, patience, overall combination work won him the fight clearly. He wasn't going to get stopped in the next 3 rounds.
I agree he would have easily SURVIVED 3 more because he did make adjustments at times. He made an effort to push Margs back early and he did more than once. But once he got on his bike it began looking like Deja Vu. His minor adjustments early and that battered eye bought him a little more time in this fight as opposed to the first fight. To say he fought a perfect fight like some are claiming is way more outrageous than saying he looked a bit vulnerable towards the end. Thats coming from a long time Cotto fan.

He absolutely could not beat either of those guys at this point. If he gets those fights I would be saddened seeing him go out like that.

Miguel is not ****** he studied the Santos fights, knowing if your Puerto Rican and plan on beating Margarito the only way to do that is get the Dr involved and thats what happend
Cotto was not in trouble at any point in the fight.

He argueably won every round and he was the one landing the way better punches and controlling the tempo for the most part.

Margarito did slightly better around the 5th round but he still didn't land alot of punches, especially hard punches that could slow Cotto down.

Cotto could of went the rest of the fight at that pace, no doubt in my mind.

Some fans seem to forget why it was stopped in the first place. Margarito's eye was swollen shut. If he had protected his face better, the fight would of went on longer and he would of been given longer to try and wear Cotto down. That's Margarito's fault, not Cotto's.

Cotto was moving just as well in round 9 as he was earlier in the fight.

I just don't undrstand how come so many can not see what was crystal clear. Cotto was in big trouble and his face and actions showed it. Those punches were hurting his a$$ to, thats why he ran the entire fight until gassing out!

To say Cotto was close to being stopped is nothing short of ridiculous although Cotto dominated the first half of there first fight Margarito still had success he hurt Cotto in the 4th round for example last night Maragrito did not hurt Cotto he was not building momentum like in the first fight and that was clear to see.

                    Poor thread imo.

In the rematch the tide changed in the 8th. If you could not see Cotto was running then you need to stop watching boxing. Cotto was broken again, and the the pressure from Margarito showed it had the same effect on Cotto. He landed his best shots and again Margarito walked through them and backed Cotto on the ropes. The entire fight emaual steward was saying how Cotto could not continue 12 rounds of running at this pace and that Magarito was gaining momentum and confidence. Which was the obvious !

You idiots watch boxing, blinded by love and affection, I watch boxing with a trained eye. Cotto was about to be stopped again!
