The only round Margarita won was the last round. He got hit with double the punches than the punches he landed on Cotto in the previous 7 rounds. This is the exact way the first fight went down. In the first fight Cotto did the exact same thing, but in the 7th round the tide change in favor for Margarito. In the rematch the tide changed in the 8th. If you could not see Cotto was running then you need to stop watching boxing. Cotto was broken again, and the the pressure from Margarito showed it had the same effect on Cotto. He landed his best shots and again Margarito walked through them and backed Cotto on the ropes. The entire fight emaual steward was saying how Cotto could not continue 12 rounds of running at this pace and that Magarito was gaining momentum and confidence. Which was the obvious !

You idiots watch boxing, blinded by love and affection, I watch boxing with a trained eye. Cotto was about to be stopped again!

The only one that was getting knocked out last night in two rounds was Margarito. Cotto completely dominated him and won all 9 rounds in my card.

Cotto boxed very good last night. To bad it only lasted for four rounds. In the fifth round Cotto started flat out running from corner to corner. The pressure from Margarito was pushing the life right out of Cotto. Between Round Six & Seven Cotto was hurt twice by body shots from Margarito's right hook to the body. Cotto had that same look of defeat from that instant on through the rest of the fight. In the last round of the fight Cotto was in full retreat and Margarito was beating him with one eye. Cotto was one round from taking a knee. Hats off to Robert Garcia and Team Cotto for TARGETING THAT DAMAGE EYE. If not for that eye Cotto would have recieved a career ending TKO. Even after the fight Cotto had the look of a beaten man! His face was swollen and riddled with bruises. His body was bright red from the hellaious body shots landed by Margarita.

I partially agree with you. I felt like he was fading too. It seemed like he was afraid to go to Marg's body to avoid punishment. He didnt have good head movement either. I think he was about 6 rounds from taking a knee but last night he was only 3 rounds from a stressful unanimous decision. With the right gameplan he should have sparked Margarito out in 7. This time he actually hurt Margs pretty bad.

I don't know what fight people were watching sayin Cotto was fading. It was round 9 and Cotto was still moving out of the way, circling Margarito when he tried trapping Cotto on the ropes, and Cotto throughout the fight wasn't effected anywhere near like the 1st fight from Marg's punches (irony?). Even Garcia was telling him "Don't chase him, cut the ring off". But of course, Margarito doesn't know how to do that. He came in and fought the same fight thinking Cotto couldn't make adjustments, and he was wrong. He used some of the tactics Mosley used (clinching, pushing off when he got inside). Cotto may have not rocked Margarito or dropped him, but his eye / face told the story. Margarito thought he could get into Miguel's head and he failed. Cotto's footwork, patience, overall combination work won him the fight clearly. He wasn't going to get stopped in the next 3 rounds.

Marg might have come on by round 6-7th in the first fight, but he was doing a lot of damage before that as well, which he wasn't doing. Also Cotto seemed completely gassed by the 7-8th round going into the TKO.

I do think that it was possible Marg could have gotten a stoppage had the fight continue, but Cotto was not as exhausted as he was in the first fight and i think it was even more likely that, while possibly losing the next 2-3 rounds he could have finnished the fight and won a decision.

Sadly, we will never know what might have happened if the fight had continued.

Cotto knew he was gasing out. It was all over his face. I watched this fight with a bunch of die hard Puerto ricans and even they said Cotto was on the verge of being stopped due to he was running out of gas like before. The last round told the story. Its not always how you started, sometimes its how you finish. Thank gof for that Pacquiao damaged eye! It was the olny thing hurt on margarita.
