Cotto was only 2 rounds from TKO lost last night!

First let me say that I was rooting for Cotto. I wanted Margarito to be punished because I don't like cheaters. The sport of boxing is dangerous enough without cement wraps and PEDS.

Cotto boxed very good last night. To bad it only lasted for four rounds. In the fifth round Cotto started flat out running from corner to corner. The pressure from Margarito was pushing the life right out of Cotto. Between Round Six & Seven Cotto was hurt twice by body shots from Margarito's right hook to the body. Cotto had that same look of defeat from that instant on through the rest of the fight. In the last round of the fight Cotto was in full retreat and Margarito was beating him with one eye. Cotto was one round from taking a knee. Hats off to Robert Garcia and Team Cotto for TARGETING THAT DAMAGE EYE. If not for that eye Cotto would have recieved a career ending TKO. Even after the fight Cotto had the look of a beaten man! His face was swollen and riddled with bruises. His body was bright red from the hellaious body shots landed by Margarita.

You must've watched a different fight to most fans because although Cotto relied on alot of movement he was still landing the way better punches.

Margarito got slightly better as it was going on but he didn't land alot of significant punches all night and i don't think the next few rounds would of been much different.

Margarito never won a round and Cotto still looked strong with only three to go and a one eyed fighter infront of him who hadnt landed anything of note all night to wear Miguel down and wasnt about to do major damage with one shot either, certainly not without his "special wraps"

I see where you're coming from but I see it as highly unlikely.

Cotto was losing steam but wasn't nearly as hurt as the first fight.
Cotto's bruises were more the result of glancing punches for the leather gloves not thudding blows from Antonio's fist.

at best Antonio had 25 percent chance of winning. You might have more of a case if it was a 15 round fight.

Either way Cotto boxed better and that is the sport.

You're aware that Robert Garcia is Margarito's trainer, not Cotto's... right?

The thing about the first fight with Cotto and Margarito is that even in their first fight, Margarito's punches looked to be glancing and not all the way flush but were damaging Cotto way more than was Cotto's flush shots damaging Margarito (which does strengthen the plaster argument), so it is hard to say if Margarito would've started coming on stronger, because the way Cotto fought last night showed that he is completely unwilling go stand in front of Margarito for more than 4 seconds (which weakens the plaster argument). So would Cotto have start experiencing fatigue in the championship rounds and Margarito start coming out stronger? We'll never know.

One thing I will say, is that in their first fight, besides the nose bleed the majority of Cotto's damage came in one or two rounds of the later stages of the fight.

If anybody was on the verge on being stopped it was Margs.

Cotto was taking whatever Margs could throw without a problem, he didn't look bothered by anything that landed. He was also starting to back Margs up towards the ropes and take control of the physical battle. It was a 9-0 shutout or 8-1 mauling, Cotto was in total control of everything.
