Shame if it's true. The HW division just got even worse.

Man I'm still in shock, I didn't think the extent of his injuries were that bad that he had to retire.

I can't see it just being down to the knee. His body must be ****ed in general.

Yeah thats why I said injuries. I mean if your the Heavyweight champ of the world, still in your prime, and hasn't taken that much ring damage ala Holfield, it must have taken some real bad injuries to force the retirement.

I think this move by Vitali is just a ploy so that people will get off his nuts. He will heal his injury and take the six months off or possibly even a full year and after that, make his last hurrah.

IMO, Vitali ain't retired for good.

I think he's had a fairly mixed bag of injuries this year which isn't a good sign. His old rotator cuff injury was pretty nasty and I bet that still gives him a bit of grief too.

You're not gonna be able to move for hasbeens trying to get back on the scene after this news.

It wouldn't be the 1st time and I hope you're right.

Maybe, good post. If he does indeed do this, then I will have lost a lot of respect for Vitali. We will see but I hope he is a man of his word.

The only good thing to come out of this is that even though Don King has control over the 4 major belts, at least we will hopefully get to see a unification tournament and a unified Champ.

Even if he comes back, though, at least he had the decency to give up the belt seeing as he can't defend it properly. I guess he's been taking all this criticism seriously, respect to him for handling the situation like a man.
