cotto was a world class fighter & may have very well been robbed of greatness by a proven cheater, so I don't even know why ts made this tread.

Can we at least all agree, Miguel Cotto was never really that good anyway?

Can't believe some of the posts here. Miguel Cotto in his WW prime (2007) was looked as a very good fighter, some rated him as the best fighter after Floyd and Pacquiao. He beat Quintana (undefeated), Malignaggi (undefeated), Mosley (still had a lot left when Cotto beat him), and also beat alot of good fighters at 140. Cotto was a total badass in his prime, deal with it.

There needs to be more Cottos out there. The guy may not be elite, but he's still a world class fighter.
TS, your threads are a joke.

Margarito makes him take a knee again, just watch....

I don't think he's retired yet?
Any reasonable poster on BS knows of Cotto. No, we cannot all agree he was never really good because he may indeed be much better. He's on the cusp of greatness, and somewhere along the verge lies Margarito, waiting. Begging to test his validity. A win now doesn't mean as much for him as it did in 07 but it certainly answers many questions.
He has exceptional heart. Willing and able to rebound from devastating losses and take the tough fights. Enough so that he'll rather take prolonged beatings over quitting on his stool. When has Margarito sought after rematches(L)? Cotto's ALWAYS exciting and you just know you're getting your moneys worth when you watch him. What names can we look out for in the future? Alvarez, Ortiz, Chavez, perhaps Mayweather.. Revisiting a Pacquiao rematch at 154 might not be so far fetched.
A win against Chavez/Alvarez alternatively would be momentous. A good showing against boxing's top 2 p4p fighters(PBF or Pac) even more career defining. I believe Cotto has discussed with Floyd the possibility of establishing a fight sometime last yr so who knows. Nothing is set in stone for Cotto, boxers make comebacks all the time. Enough with the third degree.
