Leonard Ellerbe tells ESPN: “In my opinion, you have three cowards — Bob Arum, (Pacquiao trainer) Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao. Now we all know the truth once and for all why this fight hasn’t been made. It should be clear to everyone that they don’t care what the fans want, especially when Floyd is ready, willing and able to fight Manny Pacquiao now. Floyd said if this isn’t clear, he doesn’t know what is.”

“All along we know why the fight isn’t being made. This is the perfect opportunity. Both guys just fought. This is the fight the fans want to see, and it’s a disgrace that they are not willing to give the fans what they want. In my opinion, there are three reasons why Arum doesn’t want the fight. He knows there is no way that Manny Pacquiao can win, it kills his cash cow, and he wants to do in-house fights where he controls both sides. I said all along why this fight hasn’t been made to this point. Manny Pacquiao knows, Bob Arum knows and Freddie Roach knows.”

So, where do you see Manny or Arum say they want to fight Floyd next. No, instead we see: "we want a fourth fight with Marquez." For what? So TR and Manny can play us for more of our ppv money?

I like that revisionist history, nobody especially *******s who only just started following boxing was clamoring for a cheatto fight back then. You forgot to mention that instead of facing cheatto Floyd went on to fight ODLH for a real career high payday which made him the household name he is today. You also forgot to mention that Gatti was at the time thought to KTFO of Floyd by a lot of people. We can even search in the forum history and find many threads on this. Chico also was supposed to KTFO of Floyd, What happened? Mosley was supposed to KTFO of Floyd, What happened? Hatton was at his peak was supposed to KTFO of Floyd, what happened? Your essay is nothing but a load of biased crap. Next time you want to bring up ducking try not to mention a exposed plaster cheater. Just tell pac to bring it and stop leaving it up to his promoter bob arum.

O I get it, kind of like JMM at WW? JMM struggled at WW vs Floyd so he moved back down and then Pac knew he struggled so he made the fight at WW? I get it... what a b*tch move by Pac...

*pac make him look passed... while before the fight, they did not see that thats why dela hoya is the huge favorite?

De La Hoya was a huge favorite because it was de la hoya.. I said Pac would beat De La Hoya to the point that people would think Pac could actually beat Mayweather. If anyone paid attention to Roach (who used to train Hoya) you would have known just how bad Hoya was going to be. Besides at the end of the day it was still a **** fight but good for Pac (money and expsoure wise)

*Mosely crushed margrito but was almost 2 years off in the ring..?

and yet Pac fought him AFTER Mayweather... you just killed what very very very very little of an argument you thought you had. Bottom line, Mayweather fought the #1 WW while Pac ducked him 2X saying "too good".

*Margarito and Cotto still active and Floyd still ducking them especially Margarito! Everytime Floyd see Margarito, he always pee to his pant! lol! Cotto is too far away!

Margarito is a coward and shot to ****, he has been exposed since losing his power/plaster. Cotto is nothing special either. Besides when both Cotto and Mayweather where undefeated at 140 and more importantly under the same banner of Top Rank, Bob protected Cotto from Mayweather and wouldn't allow the fight to happen. Just like Bob protected Mayweather from Hoya and just like Bob is protecting Pac from Mayweather now.

There are only 2 fighters, that I can say Floyd truly avoided. That was Margarito and Stevie johnston after that...Floyd didn't avoid anyone....Anybody else anyone names a case can also be said they avoided Floyd.

For whatever reason, Floyd wanted no part of Margarito and Stevie.

One thing about Floyd Mayweather I’ll say straight off the bat is he is the most talented boxer I’ve seen in my lifetime. Floyd’s combination of skill, speed, athleticism to go with his all time great defense would rank above even Jones, Hopkins and Whitaker for me in all round ability.

The thing with Floyd is though he will not test himself in the ring against the very best fighter around, it has been like this for the past 7 years ever since he moved into the 140lb division.

When Mayweather left 135lb, the fight the fans asked for above all was Floyd against fellow Pound for Pound star, Kostya Tyszu. This fight would never happen as Floyd would go on to have a rather unflattering run in the division taking on the decent Chop Chop Corley and Henry Bruseles before stepping onto HBO PPV to take on WBC title holder, Arturo Gatti.

I actually liked the Gatti fight from a fans point of view. I thought Floyd would win pretty easily in the end but I expected Gatti to make a fight of it for a few rounds but obviously that wasn’t to be.

Even though the Gatti fight looked interesting on paper theres no excuse for Floyd being over a year at the weight and passing through without taking on the best guy. In 1 of those 3 fights Floyd could and should have taken on the Aussie without him and his fans using the old “we got the official belt” excuse.

Dont belts just gather dust, Floyd?

Moving onto 147lbs and it really started to become shameless. First we had the fans clamoring for a fight with Antonio Margarito, where Floyd was guaranteed a then career high payday. Instead, Floyd chose to take on the just embarrassingly beaten Zab Judah before trying to set up a fight with Cory Spinks at 154 before being rescued by Dan Goossen and a promised $8m to take on Judah conqueror, Carlos Baldomir.

After dusting Judah and Baldomir he would take on De La Hoya winning a SD before stopping Hatton in 10 rounds which set the stage for a fight with Miguel Cotto, or so we thought.

At that time Miguel Cotto was flying and had proved himself to be the clear #2 fighter at 147lbs. That did not matter. Mayweather had started setting a trend of avoiding the best and it was something he planned on sticking to.

To this day Floyd remains the only fighter whom Miguel Cotto ever called out directly in his career, Cotto wanted the fight so bad that he went out of character and blasted Mayweather several times for his refusal to fight.

Floyd would come away with one of the most embarrassing lines I’ve ever heard when pressed on facing Cotto – “Cotto lives too far away”.

Now we’re at the stage where we have the two best fighters in the world who are obviously Pacquiao and Mayweather. We have Pacquiao who has fought everyone and Mayweather who undoubtedly has not. We have Top Rank making offer after offer and Mayweather still holds firm with his avoid the best policy.

It must have been hard being a fan of Mayweather over the years – One let down after another when it comes to opponents.

Floyd should go down as the most talented of the era but if he does not start taking on the guy everyone wants him to face then he’ll never be considered the best.

To be the best, you need to have beaten the best. Whens the last time Floyd can claim to have beaten the best?
Floyd did clearly duck Margarito. That will go in history as one of the biggest ducks of all time.

I would still like to see Floyd fight Cotto. Floyd has never ever mentioned Cotto's name. Floyd strategy is let everyone fight each other and sit back and say see I told you this guy wasn't that good.

                Cheeseball article.

The 'author' only chose to write about Mayweather in a negative light because he knew it would garner his piss-poor attempts at journalism some views for once (they usually sink like anchors without reply, ).

I cant argue with that... You can see on floyd's face how intimated he is to Margarito...

For those who said Margarito is over, they will be surprise after Dec 3. I can only see Margarito loose on that fight with close decision but I think it will be TKO again for Margacheato.

Eh....It's not the same Margarito though....I don't think Floyd will duck this version of Marg...Not only would he fight him if it made sense but would beat him...

However, the 2004-2007 version on the other hand...

                      Quote:
Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."
