It's amazing how people still don't understand styles make fights.

Against Pacquiao, Marquez can do what he does best - play the role of the counter puncher. Pacquiao will come in and attack and that's when Marquez unleashes his counter shots. He is the perfect style for Pacquiao.

Against Mayweather however, Marquez was forced to play the role of the aggressor and floyd played the role of the counter puncher, and that is not marquez' game. He's not nearly as effective walking forward, while floyd is the one setting traps.

whats funny is that Mayweather can be the counter puncher and still throw less and land more which even further proves my point that Mayweather is the better offensive fighter.

If Pac was the aggressor but still had to throw over 100 more and landed 100 less in all 3 fights than Mayweather did in one then how is Pac the better offensive fighter?

@red, yea, no, floyd is a slick counter puncher, and a fairly one-dimensional counter puncher which mosly utilizes only a right hand
this is not to mention that floyd more than not will shell up and just slip everything coming at him instead of countering as much as possible like marquez

All this means is that when Marquez is offensive, his defensive ability drop dramatically. I think you might find that when Floyd does this, his defensive awareness drops a bit as well. Seems like we are all agreeing that styles make the fight and the demeanor you decide to take in the ring also matters.
