Originally posted by Frank the TankI'd take 5 or 6 of Calzaghe's wins over any of Lacy's. The only reason Lacy beats JC is if Joe's too old to fight at the pace he once could. Lacy wouldn't even be top 10 in the early/mid 90's.
Put down the reefer.
Calzaghe wasted his entire career fighting lesser opposition.
He's never proven himself against a world class primed fighter.
Lacy will beat him down like a step child if he ever has enough balls to get in the ring with him.
Calzaghe has wasted his entire career being a sheltered homer who fights weak opposition.Comment

Lacy is getting far too much credit on here. Exactly what has he done that's so impressive as to spawn all the p4p talk?Comment

Originally posted by Frank the TankI can't argue with you about JC over the last few years but Eubank, Woodhall prime Reid, Brewer, Mitchell, etc are lesser opposition than what exactly?

- Eubank was washed up and you know it
- Woodhall was knocked out by KEITH HOLMES prior to Calzahge getting to him
- A Prime Ried? lol, Ried didn't have a prime. He was always a marginal fringe contender. Thulane Malinga beat him right before Calzaghe did, and got a wide UD. Calzaghe got a SD
- Brewer was brutalized in 3 rounds by Antwon Echols right before he went 12 rounds with Calzaghe
- Byron Mitchell was coming off a loss to Ottke, dropped Calzaghe, and then was the victem of a blatent and soft home town stoppage.

So not only is your attempt at trying to say Calzage fought good opposition a laugh, you also tried to tell me Joe won't beat Lacy because he's too old and isn't as fast as he used to be.
He's 32.
Snap out of it.
Calzaghe is a sheltered unproven fighter who wasted the majority of his career in the UK fighting meidocre fighters.
*IF* (and it's a big if) Joe mans up and takes the Lacy fight, he's going to lose becuase he's soft from all the years of fighting weak opposition.
He's going to lose because he's going to be expsosed.

Bozo,
Of course Eubank was past his prime but he was still good enough to beat just about anybody on the scene today and he didn't do too badly in his 2 bouts with Thompson afterwards 2 divisions up.
Woodhall was a class fighter and only a boxrec stat monkey who'd never seen Woodhall fight would try and discredit this win. He injured his arm early in the Holmes fight.
Followed Reid's career closely have you? If he wasn't all that why are people giving Lacy so much credit for beating an old, under-prepared and unfocused version of him?
Brewer's always been hit and miss and mixed in decent performances with **** ones but I'd be more impressed if Lacy had a win against him than any of his wins so far. You call having Echols down 3 times in the 2nd being brutalized? Get a clue.
Everyone who fought Ottke came out of Germany with a loss so what's your point?
Since when has it been unfeasible for a fighter to be past his prime at 32? Calzaghe's looked like **** in his last 3 fights compared to his best, which is why I qualified my opinion. He's come back from sticky spells before to reproduce decent form and if he does so again, Lacy has no chance.
Try watching the guy fight to form your opinion instead of jumping on the stat bandwagon, he's clearly a superior fighter to Lacy. Lacy's closer to Maussa than Mayweather in terms of skill level.
MD,
Can you offer me another explanation to JC's below par performances in his last 3 fights other than him probably being on the slide? It certainly wasn't to do with the level of competition.Last edited by Cletus Funk; 11-08-2005, 09:22 AM.Comment
