Yes, they're both boxer/counterpunchers, but I feel Floyd is more boxer and Marquez is more counterpuncher. I guess a better way to explain my point is this. Floyd looks for gaps in the defense (e.g., his pullback right straight after an opponent throws a jab that he avoids by leaning slightly backwards, like he's done numerous times with different opponents), while Marquez looks for gaps in the OFFENSE (e.g., Manny fires a right jab, and JMM leans behind Pac's shoulder to simultaneously throw a left uppercut.)
Like I said previously, Floyd does not punch WITH guys, and he doesn’t counter in combinations. I admit that it doesn't necessarily mean Floyd won’t beat Pac but it’s not a foregone conclusion from this fight. It’s a different set. Hopefully we won’t have to speculate too much more.
Should people think Floyd will do a better job with Manny given how Pac-JMM III played out? No, not necessarily. Do I think Floyd has a good chance of beating Manny? Yeah, of course. Can Manny beat Floyd? Sure. But just like you, I can only hope they already meet in the ring
