still number one.....sergio stuggled too and it was againts a bum
i presume by 'bum' you're referring to darren barker? a 'bum' that was unbeaten going into that fight? firstly, darren barker isn't a bum. there is no such thing as a 'bum' in boxing. secondly, essentially, your ignorant comments aside, you're trying to discredit barker? if so, the only bum around here is yourself......oh and ignorant.
Yes; the implication is that Pac is eons better than Corley and Corley gave Mayweather one of his better fights, hurting him in the 3rd and 4th rounds before May took over. Just saying there are still lots of reasons to want to see Pac-May.
Mayweather is clearly better than Marquez. Your triangle-theory type of observation is even more of a stretch than the one you tried to dismiss. You have hope that Pacquiao stans a chance against Mayweather based on Corley landing a clean shot or 2 against Mayweather is a lot more flemsy than calling Mayweather the clear favorite based on how Pacquiao looks against Marquez. Corley has Maywather temporarily stunned bu lost every round while Marquez has arguably won all 3 fights with Pacquiao.
i have long since stopped treating official scoring as gospel and instead just rank them according to my own eye . . . and on saturday night i saw marquez beat pacquiao decisively.
i don't think it's a given that floyd would trounce pacquiao just based on the marquez fight -- the whole dynamics in there would be completely different -- but i do favour him quite confidently.

No, it's not. A triangle theory would be that, because May beat Marquez easy he beats Pac easy.
If someone is saying May wins because he's a counter puncher like Marquez, that's a different argument. It's not a triangle; it's a comparative analysis. I might disagree (I think Marquez's approach is much different and I think May is better at different things) but it contains actual thought.
Corley is by no means precise, but there isn't a lot to look at for Mayweather to explain where Pac's chances lie. Neither has faced anyone precisely like the other.
He doesn't rank anymore. Their is a prerequisite of being able to beat 38 year old light weights that you cherrypick, and Pacquiao doesn't forefill that requirement. Maybe he'll rematch him in 2014.

As I said, youre Corley theory is just as flemsy as the one you're trying to dismiss. Call it whatever you want, youre theory doesn't hold much weight. I don't see too many people being that simplistic anyway. I think that most people who know boxing are looking at it from a "Mayweather is even more equipped to exploit the holes in Pacquiao than Marquez is" angle.
Feel Marquez will always bother Pacquiao as a style. I don't think many other fighters possess that style so he's still P4P number 1 in my book. Remember Marquez had lost to Mayweather since his last loss to Pacquiao and thats it, and had been beating the top Lightweights. I've always felt Mayweather would edge Pacquiao if they fought but had the feeling that Floyd was reluctant to face him for whatever reason (Doubt, Pride? I don't know)
But until he loses or Mayweather comes back and beats a series of more impressive opponents then he'll stay there. Mayweather could take his crown back if he just stayed active, though there aren't many people left at 147 (ironically since Pacquiao beat the majority of them) if Floyd beat Martinez he'd definately be number 1 but if he beat say Berto, Cotto, Alvarez in succession the same way Pacquiao beat a string of top Welterweights he'd be up there since no one win is enough to give him the spot but a series of good wins against very good Jr. Middleweights/ Welterweights would put him up there.
