I watched the fight live amid some distraction. Rewatching the video, it wasn't the clear thing for JMM I thought I saw initially.


Instead of just glorying in the satisfaction of seeing Pacquiao exposed as less than he was cracked up to be, one has to give Marquez credit for the strength of his performance at this weight and age. Two factors account for how this fight played out; Pacquiao being less than he was cracked up to be is one, but Marquez being so very good is another.

Props to the guys who were as unphased by Marquez was by all the ostensible advantages Pacquiao brought into this fight and predicted an outcome along these lines.
I know I'm not the only experienced watcher who was wrong, and I'm glad I was. I believed that the physical advantages I perceived in Pac's favour would be the dictating factor, but I was hoping that the technical advantage in Marquez' favour would be enough to keep him in it for the course. And so it was. Before the fight, I could see JMM limiting Pacquiao's offense and doing as he did for maybe a few rounds max before getting clipped and submerged. Just goes to show you can never put other factors above the pure style matchup if two guys can make the same weight.

So, this was really a highly disciplined, artful performance against a really dangerous guy. Very impressive for Marquez when you take all factors into consideration. BUT he still didn't win near as clearly as everybody's suggesting, IMO, in spite of making Pac look pretty disjointed and bad. I suggest everyone reviews - it's a close fight.

Probably because Marquez has zero hope of winning a decision from these judges and needs the KO to win. Ofc, the KO isn't happening either.

In other words, this fight is pretty much a joke.

Now, I can see Manny getting the nod in this fight and the point of view that JMM didn't do enough to take the title, but, when the Ring title was up for grabs last time and Pac was the challenger for an alphabet, JMM had his clearest case for a 'W' in the trilogy (I don't think tonight's case is necessarily stronger, even though he avoided getting dropped), and Pac still got the nod.

It's hard to imagine JMM ever being allowed to get a win on the cards against Manny, whether he earns it or not, and he's not strong enough to KO him. That's why Pac-JMM III was a nonsense at its inception, same going for Pac-JMM IV (with JMM having to go to the well yet again). Only point in that fight is, Top Rank and Team Pac get to avoid Floyd some more. But they'd do that, anyway.

Which brings us to the truth. Floyd-Pac isn't on the Arum agenda. It's all about keeping the Pac train rolling, period. When Pac loses, Arum wants it to be to one of his own younger guys. I'd love to be proven wrong, but he has no intention of letting Floyd get hands on Manny.

You're not focusing on the even worse bias displayed during the fight.

I thought the accusations of bias from HBO in the past were misdirected, but tonight just had me completely lose faith in them.

As the rounds wore on, HBO almost ruined the fight for me, as if they were *****g a full court press in an attempt to manipulate the perception of the public.

During the middle rounds, I started to notice the replaying of strictly Pacquiao "highlights" in rounds where JMM landed the cleaner shot(s) and did the better work, as if we were watching Sturm or Huck against a foreign opponent on RTL or ARD; at the same time, we had punch stats that looked immensely su****ious tilted to Pacquiao's air punches; next, the announcing team started calling shots Pacquiao barely landed or didn't land at all, while Marquez' shots were uncalled and then an assault on Marquez and what he supposedly wasn't doing; and through all this we have Harold Lederman's unofficial scorecard constantly updating us on how Marquez is behind, even teasing us by letting him get to be 1 point behind and then have Manny "takeover".

If I had Lampley and Steward's emails, I would have to call them out on there blatant bias. Just a disgraceful night for HBO.
