Marquez arguably beat Pac twice and he's not a legit opponent ?

    Just say what you mean....

"because he wants the advantage". There's no need to sugar coat it.

Too much emphasis is being placed on weigh in weights nowadays.

For this fight, the contracted weigh in weight is 144. JMM isnt being forced to weigh in at 144. He can train the same exact way he would for a LW fight and come in the ring his ususal weight which is anywhere from 142-146. Pac never weighs in at the WW limit. He will weigh in around 145 and weigh 146-147 on fight night.

How is JMM at a weight disadvantage?

if Pacquiao blasts Marquez at 144 lbs, don't you think he would do it at 140 lbs regardless?

Tough to say. That's the same argument that Mayweather backers get bashed relentlessly for.

Age and tread on the tire are the issues to be concerned about regarding JMM as compared to Manny relatively. JMM has been keeping the wagon going but all the way back to the Casamayor fight he was looking a bit worn, now he has taken care of business but has suffered quite a few beatings since that fight and Manny has looked just fine. The real question is where are both men at and does JMM still have it in him to really do what he did previously.

I personally hope JMM has one great fight left in him, but the wheels could fall off the wagon at any time and Manny is the sort of fighter that tends to make wheels fall off~
            that's a good point

it is true that even if Marquez has won all of his LW fights, he has taken some punishment, particularly in the brutal first Diaz fight

Marquez is getting older indeed, but still a very capable fighter

his stamina worries me more than his overall athletic condition (timing, speed, etc.)

Mayweather gets bashed for agreeing to weigh in at 144, failing to make the weight and instead weigh 146, then god knows how much he rehydrated over night since he refused to be weighed on fight night.

I agree with you that to much emphasis is being placed on weight. Timing is the bigger issue.

Anyway, if you don't recognize that Marquez is at a disadvantage here, then there's really no reason to carry on this discussion.

Mayweather got bashed for taking the fight. Point. Blank. Period.

well put...i was wondering how long it would take pac fans to start deluding themselves into thinking these two are picking it up right where they left off. marquez is 38 years old and shop worn...his speed timing and footwork have diminished considerably since the last pac fight. thats what makes his fights more exiting lately...he's ****ing with the type of guys he used to outbox.
