  • Lets not say ****** things like Manny is scared of Sergio and Sergio is picking on smaller fighters.

Hopkins called out Trinidad and De La Hoya for years. Before he fought those two Hopkins was fighting for peanuts on Showtime. Hagler became famous for fighting Duran, Hearns and Leonard. I can give you several more examples of welter weight fighting middle weights.

What it comes down to is this; is Manny motivated and willing to fight the middle weight champion of the world?

Manny doesn't have to, but if he wants to make some more history, the option is there for him, and Sergio is more than willing to oblige.

Think about this. Did Oscar De La Hoya need to fight Hopkins? Did Jose Napoles need to fight Carlos Monzon?

No, neither had to or needed to, but they wanted to.

And one big difference between Martinez and these other great middle weights like Hagler, Monzon, and Hopkins, is that Martines is not a natural middle weight. Martinez has been a middle weight for less than 2 years. Martines was a welter weight and jr. middle weight for over 10 years. So, Martinez is not even a natural middle weight like Hopkins, Hagler, or Monzon were. Martinez is a smaller fighter that moved up to middle weight only because an oppurtunity to fight presented itself at 160.

well, let's not forget that pacquiao isn't even a natural welterweight, he's a very very small welterweight, he didn't even fight above 140 til he met oscar in '08. it's really dangerous for pacquiao. great opportunity and makes pac look a lot better as a fighter, i really don't see him winning tho, not trying to argue, just adding on to what u said. and i dont see this fight happening cuz top rank won't let pacquiao get in with sergio.

Let me ask you a simple question. If you had the choice, which one would you choose, to make 4-5 million dollars, be part of a huge PPV even, and get tremendous exposure, or, you can make 1-2 million dollars with very little exposure.

          Which one would you choose?

there's good fighters in super middleweight, it's not outta the question and it might be easier to find an opponent up there than it is to find an opponent at a weight class lower. i agree that i would want 4-5 mil too, but he has to go through arum first before he trades with pac.

That's the thing, Manny doesn't have to fight Sergio. And yes, I know Manny moved up from 112 pounds. I knew about Manny before most Filippinos knew about Manny.

But also, Sergio is not a real middle weigh either. I really see Sergio has a 154 pounder. The people on this forum who say Sergio should fight bigger guys, he is, Sergio Martinez is outweighed on fight night by all the middle weight he's faced.

I am not saying there aren't good fighters at super middle weight, what I am saying is that just like Manny has the right to not want to fight Sergio because he his bigger, Sergio has the right to not want to go to 168 because they are bigger.

Of course, Sergio is targeting Manny and Floyd because they represent the money and the exposure. No 168 pounder can give Sergio the money and exposure that Manny and Floyd can.

                It's that simple.

PAC challenges his legacy while Fraud just talks about his. PAC fights bigger more experienced fighters, while Fraud cherry picks his.
