I give Floyd all the credit in the world for this fight if its made, but the timing is HORRIBLE. A lot of people who ordered Mayweather-Ortiz won't even think about ordering another fight between him and another fighter who isn't a household name. The only Mayweather fights I can see casual fans buying at this point are with Pacquiao and Cotto if he gets by Margarito. Sergio needs a win over somebody like Cotto, Margarito, B.Hop, De La Hoya, RJJ, etc. in order to make this fight big. And I know those last two are joke of competition, but they're HUGE names and 90% of the people ordering the fights wouldn't know that.

Why not just let Floyd be at whatever he is comfortable at, and Martinez at whatever he is comfortable at from 155-160.

All that would do is, Floyd can train and eat more. And Sergio would train and have to shrink himself down a lot less. He probably still has to put in good effort to make 158-160.

Both guys at their comfortable weights, and lets skills pay the bills and not who has any side-effects from cutting weight.

        I see what you're saying.

And, Floyd would get major props for that. And, if he wins. It would be hard not to be a fan of the mofo...Even I would probably be the biggest "*****" around.

But, I wouldn't be upset with Floyd if he doesn't go that route, honestly.

And, if that would to happen. And, Martinez wins than I can't give him no credit at all

Funny thing is...That a lot of people are looking at the Floyd side.

But, lets look at Martinez side...Would Martinez get credit if he beat Floyd? I'm not sure how much credit I'm willing to give him if he does beat Floyd.
I have said this in the other Martinez-Floyd thread, I won't even give Martinez that much credit for that win, if it happened at 160. He gets more credit for the Pavlik, Williams wins. If he wins at 154, I'll give Martinez more credit for compromising in the strength department and risking dehydration/ side effects.

Floyd gets more credit if he fights at 160, and Martinez would get more credit for a win at 154. Its' as simple as that.

I would love to see this fight. Pacquiao is still out there after Martinez. A fight against Martinez would be a real challenge for Floyd--probably the toughest of his career. Love this fight!

Great fight regardless of the weight(as long as it's above 150).

If Floyd isnt scared to take on Martinez, how in the hell can you claim that he's scared of Pacquiao?

Personally, I doubt this fight will get signed. It seems like a bluff to get the wheels rolling for negotiations with Pac.

Don't know anyone who said that.

I think Martinez beats Floyd at 154, if its anything less than 154 I will pick Floyd to win. Martinez better not go less than 154.

Sergio kind of f**ked himself over by even saying he'd go down to 150. I have no doubt he can make 150 and still be good, I would just rather see it at 154. Just have Sergio sign something that says he won't come in on fight night over 164 lbs (what Ortiz was on fight night). That'd be fair.
I give credit to Floyd, but I'd take it a step further by saying that Sergio will be affected by even coming down to 154 after being at 160 for a year and a half. I don't think he'll be able to fight at 154 completely comfortable as before. NEVER MIND 150, 4 pounds below what Sergio used to fight at for years...when was the last time Sergio fought at welterweight or under 154?

If the fight's at 150...Sergio's screwed. Sergio at 150 should be more dangerous for Floyd then Margarito was for Pacquiao, though.
