So wait...NOW Sergio is a bad pick for Floyd???

    Same old s**t.

These are the things people were saying prior fo finding out that Mayweather-Martinez is actually in talks.

    1. Martinez is too much of a risk for Floyd.

    2. Sergio is as quick, if not more so than Floyd, he can beat him.

    3. No way will Floyd will fight Sergio.

Now that Mayweather appears to be finalizing a fight with Sergio, people change their tunes just like usual. Now here are some things people are saying...

    1. Martinez is old, another old fighter Floyd is picking.

    2. Martinez was never even that good anyway.

    3. Martinez showed signs of age in his last fight.

    4. Barker exposed Sergio.

As far as Martinez being old at 37, he's looked better the past 2-3 years than he EVER did in the first 15 years or so of his boxing career. NO ONE can deny that. He's quicker, stronger, and better all the way around than he ever has been. His reflexes are still as sharp as ever, and he maintains his speed just like always.

As far as Martinez not being that good...he beat everyone in his division that posed a serious threat to him, with relative ease. I have no doubt even if Sergio fights Floyd, he will fight and beat Pirog, Macklin, Lee, etc.

As far as him showing signs of his last fight...get real!!! He was as quick, as elusive, and possessed as much power as ever. Just because he didn't blow Barker out of the ring doesn't mean he was showing signs of aging, get out of here!!! He was as quick with his feet and hands, maintained great stamina, he looked the same. Maybe we should give Barker some real credit for not being completely blown out of the fight. Martinez was still packing away rounds and winning the fight with ease.

As far as Barker exposing him...no. Barker made it a fairly difficult night for Sergio, but Sergio was still connecting with relative ease for most of the fight. And....Sergio STILL KO'd Barker late in the fight. Sure, he didn't dominate Barker like he did other opponents prior, but that doesn't mean he's slowing down or that he was exposed. Jacobs was exposed by Pirog. Linares has been exposed twice now. Maidana was exposed by Khan. Berto was exposed by Ortiz. Martinez was NOT in any way shape or form EXPOSED by Barker.

I just find it funny that Floyd probably picks a guy two weight classes above him, #3 in the world, maybe even quicker than him, with power, and people change their tune on that guy. It's amazing.

Real fight fans know that a Mayweather-Martinez fight does LOADS for Floyd's legacy, and the Mayweather haters can't stand it.

So, what does everybody think about Floyd fighting Sergio, and what does it do for his legacy if this does happen, win or lose???

It's not a bad pick. However, personally I don't care if it's in a catch-weight or not. However, the fans that shit on Manny for taking catch-weights will have to either shit on Floyd or take whatever the extremist idiotic Pac fans want to throw for the Martinez fight being on a catch-weight.

Because, lets face it. Common sense and from everything we got if the fight does happen...BIG IF, mind you, it will be at a catch-weight of 150.

Still doubt it happens though. It damn sure is not going to happen above 150.

We'll find out what's going down soon enough. I'll have mad respect if he fights him though... so long as it doesn't end the same way Ortiz's did. I wouldn't mind dropping 60/65

I just don't remember seeing so many stipulations before when people were saying mayweather was scared of Martinez. Now I'm seeing "anything less than 160 is a joke". Its hilarious

it's not a bad fight. He gets mad props if he fights martinez.

my only thing would be if he waits for pacquiao or not.

he should wait till pac-jmm, assuming pac wins, negotiate. If they can't make the fight, go on with martinez. But the point is at least TRY to fight pacquiao.

Agreed. If it's at 150, Floyd won't get as much credit from me though. He would still get decent credit, but not as much if it was anywhere from 152-156. Sergio kind of f**ked himself over by even saying he'd go down to 150. I have no doubt he can make 150 and still be good, I would just rather see it at 154. Just have Sergio sign something that says he won't come in on fight night over 164 lbs (what Ortiz was on fight night). That'd be fair.

I think the fight would be awesome no matter what. And, if Floyd takes Martinez offer at 150, who can blame Floyd? It's Martinez the one who's offering it.
