What Dawson did wasn't exactly in the rules but it's something that happens a million times in Boxing and wasn't really that bad.

What Hopkins should have done was immediately got up. Instead of lying down pretending to be hurt. That is the one thing that has always annoyed me about Hopkins, is the pretending to be hurt nonsense.

The fight will be changed to an NC either way most likely.

I don't think Hopkins did any favours to his legacy tonight with that though because whether he likes it or not the backlash for that is going to be on him especially if the decison stands.

My point exactly. These guys are trying to knock each others heads off, there are broken noses, hands, cuts, broken ribs, arms, perforated ear drums.

B_Hop seemed to be in survival mode from the opening bell. I don't think he wanted to fight Dawson in the first lace but he wasn't ready to retire and didn't want to look cheap by dodging him again. Remember not long ago Dawson was the recognized champ at Light-Heavy and was asking for a fight with B-Hop. B-Hop would just say that Dawson wasn't a big draw and he only wanted big fights. I feel Dawson was trying to press the action but B-Hop was making it difficult with his gameplan. With all of that being said, I feel that the fight should have been declared a no contest. This was in no way a TKO. Chad was so pissed. I thought he was going to turn down the belt as he probably should have. I would not have wanted to win like that. If a rematch is on the table Chad should want it just as bad if not worse than Hopkins. Last thing I want to say is that if Chad Dawson displayed the kid of intesity and passion during his fights that he displayed after the fight tonight, then he would probably be sitting right up there with the top guys in our sport

Actually, shoving off with your shoulder to create room is technically illegal, but they are very lax on enforcing the rule.

Dawson pushes forward and stand up a little and Hopkins hit the deck.

Happens about every 10 seconds in boxing.

And as for you crying "FOUL"...uh...I didnt see the ref call ANYTHING close to a foul. In fact...looks to me like the ref waved off the fall as NO KNOCKDOWN and was waiting for Hopkins to lift his old kiester off the mat.

SAME people crying foul on this are the ones that were squealing with joy about how Ortiz should have "Protected himself at all times" or "Win now, look good next time" BOTH events were sketchy, NEITHER is a foul or illegal. The double standard here is hypocritcal and super gay.

The point is, Officially, Logically, Legally, This can NOT possible be a TKO.

Only Scenario's are: -

a Technical decision - However only 1 round had passed, and it was the second round. Only completion of 4 rounds can a TD be made

a No Contest

a DQ - However a DQ wasnt made because the Ref forgot to caution Dawson after the throw.

a TKO is not possible, so i dont know how it was given, unless for some reason the referee thought that Hopkins was brought to the ground by a punch (which he obviously wasn't)

If you get injured in a fight and cant continue, its a TKO loss for you unless the other fighter directly inflicted the blow.

Dawson really didnt do anything other than try to get Hopkins off of him. Its like trying to ride around on your dog and then blaming the dog when you fall off and hurt your pinky toe.

Yeah, that's the thing. Hopkins really technically did the same thing that Cintron did when you stop to think about it. And I feel kind of like a hypocrite for bashing Cintron and calling the dude a pussy when he flew out of the ring against Paul Williams. But what makes that situation different to me, is Cintron brought his situation on himself more so than Hopkins did against Dawson. Plus Cintron acts like a bitch or a mental midget in 85% of his fights where Hopkins is mentally tough in most of his fights. The guy did push ups while the ref called a time out in the Pascal fight for crying out loud. The last thing I would think of Hopkins as is a pussy or a quitter.
