Comments Thread For: Dawson Stops Hopkins, Freak Ending in Two Rounds

I thought it was a clear foul. His left arm wrapped around Hopkins's leg when he evaded his lead right hand and then put his shoulder into him while lifting his legs up.thats a fair example, but those injuries are caused directly due to the other fighter. same with elbows. Dawson did nothing to directly cause Hopkins' injury other than shrug off a clinching Hopkins.
if you fall and hurt yourself in a boxing match, yes, its a TKO loss for you.
I won't pretend to know the extent of the injury or pretend to know what Hopkins was feeling, but that was a clear foul and should have been a NC.Comment

I think you FAR TOO underestimate the power of Hopkins not giving a **** and only wanting money. . .
come on? ARE U SERIOUS? hahahaha. . . it's so clear what he tried to do. . .
i think he ACTUALLY thought majority of fans would buy into his bull****.Comment

The problem with what you have written is that Hopkins did the same thing more than 10 years ago against Robert Allen. So what was his excuse then?As someone who has suffered shoulder injuries (dislocation and separation), an awkward landing like the one B-Hop suffered however benign it may initially appear can dislocate or at the very least dislodge the shoulder. The man is nearly 50, so a fall that one of us could easily withstand could do be more dangerous to him. Personally, I don't think Dawson's shove/tackle was that serious of a foul, but to rule the match a TKO is pretty embarrassing. Everyone here is saying that B-Hop looked bad in the fight, but I disagree the fight was slowly developing and both fighters were feeling each other out...I think that eventually Chad would have become frustrated at his inablilty to catch Hopkins and that Hopkins would have rolled to a decision victory. Hopefully, the powers that be will overturn this match and we can see a real fight between both of these skilled athletes. For now this is just another disappointment for boxing, as someone who was introduced to this sport by my Dad at a young age, and considers it one of my favorite sports to watch I am saddened and infuriated at the outcome.
And who is going to pay for a rematch when a fight ended so disappointingly?
I would rather pay 49.95 to see a rematch between Linares and De Marco.Comment

He told the referee he was willing to continue, but the referee said you have an injured arm, so he stopped the fight.
Bottom line is, Hopkins was willing to continue.
Stop avoiding the facts you ignorant ****.Comment

He didn't actually dislocate his shoulder, the ring canvas is very well padded with heavy rubber. He faked it to try to get a DQ, then tried to draw Allen in, and when that didn't work, after a round he began using it again as normal. A dislocated shoulder renders the arm completely useless, and is extremely painful, couldn't box with it. It's even more painful to reset it.Comment

Yeah, because fighters always have their arms around another fighters legs... it just happens all the time right? Like 5-6 times a round. Everyone does it...Hahahahaha! Hopkins didn't get hurt! I'm so glad this cheating **** finally caught up to him.
Dawson didn't hook the legs. Hopkins left leg got hooked when he fell, which had nothing to do with Dawson. That happens.
Hopkins didn't want to continue fighting. Simple as that. My 5 y/o son takes harder spills than that daily.
Oh, and I love how the same people who trash Vitali for quiting on his stool against Byrd in 7 rounds after tearing his rotator cuff are the same ones defending Hopkins' BULL**** now! **** OFF you racist bastards.Comment
