Cuts like that, caused by a punch, is nearly unheard of in boxing. A horizontal massive split across the entire bridge of his nose? Caused by a punch?

Guaranteed that in a replay they will find the initial contact that caused the nose cut was from a headbutt. Just doesn't happen like that. The eye cut, maybe, the nose, absolutely not from a punch.

I saw the reply , it was caused by a uppercut. I guess la nina de oro must really wanna be a wild mouth bitch that bad he's afraid they'll kick him out if he don't get a rematch.

Where is the defense??!! Is this supposed to be a legitimate "World Lightweight Champion"? Adrien Broner would take both Linares and DeMarco to school where they belong. Broner Vs. DeMarco. And the new, WBC champion of the world...

DeMarco entered the ring at 142lbs to Linares' 145. He's a natural lw.

So what does this mean for Linares' career? I never followed him at all but have heard all the hype (including on tonight's telecast) saying he's the next best thing but can Linares' ever become a star fighter after tonight's loss?

Wtf is lamer than discrediting a guy for being huge for a weight class that makes weight

I guess all tall fighters just really arent that good, because they're tall.

What's with Linares whipping his head to the right when he gets hit on the head. That's weird. Bad habit that leaves himself open for a timing shot.

Now I know why Linares faded late. He's outgrown the division. He looks at least 5'9 and with a rather big frame for a lw. He could easily fight as a ww.

I don't see either one of these guys as a special talent. But Linares looked like the more rounded fighter. He leaves himself open. But Demarco does the same. He'll get knocked out easily by someone with punching power. Linares was landing easily and punching straight through Demarco's gloves. Demarco just landed a few clean punches that hurt Linares. I'd agree with another poster that it seemed like a questionable stoppage. He was still bobbing and weaving and covering up. But the fact that Linares did not contest, I'd say he was beaten. Good fight though. A shame when the undercard dominates the main event. Second time straight this has happened.

Ironically this fight was still part of his rebuilding process. A few years back Linares was being primed and the next big thing when he was knocked out against a journeyman in the first round, very similar to Amir Kahn. I wonder if Freddie Roach still thinks Linares is the one to dethrone Rios?
