I think he fares better then most would think against Leonard and Duran.
Hagler and Hearns are way too big for Pac.
Duran vs Paquiao would be boxing most epic trilogy, me thinks. nothing but fireworks.

He'd probably lose them all except maybe Duran but there's no shame in that since the first 3 are much much bigger.

totally forgot about Tito.. lol Tito's footwork wasn't that good. He'd be there for Pac to hit. That would be an interesting fight as well.

I'm gonna go against the grain and give it to Pac.

Ray Leonard is 5'10" with a 74 inch reach he is fully capable of exploiting every inch of his range advantage and he is better on the inside.

Manny can not fuck with him he would get annihilated.

Hearns is way bigger but if Manny can get inside and make it a fight he has a shot, tough guy to get to an exact spot though.

Tito would give him a similar chance as Hearns except Manny would probably have an easier time getting in his range.

Duran is more his size but he is an inside boxer so it is like the exact opposite fight as Hearns although Manny stands a slightly better chance because he has an advantage at range so he has a little more leeway.

Yep, people just don't get it. They rant and whine about Pac not winning fantasy matches and it's not that at all. It's that he doesn't beat these guys specifically. People talk about how great a win Margarito was and how Pac got hurt and came back and whipped him and that there was a huge size.

Well, now imagine Pac in with someone as big and bigger than Margarito. Got it? Now, imagine if Margarito was as fast, if not faster than Pacquiao? Imagine if Margarito had footwork that made Pac set, reset, off balance in his lunges....imagine if Margarito had the ability to knock him out with one single brilliantly placed, perfect counter punch? You got it?

That's Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns. Leonard was 5'11" and Hearns was 6'1". With their speed, skill, power, footwork, defence etc they are not getting beaten by Pacquiao. It just wouldn't happen and that's not a diss on Pac. It's because he just would never beat ATG welterweights. There is a huge, huge, huge difference between fighting Cotto (and we saw the damage he did to Pac even winning as easily as he did) and fighting prime Hearns and Leonard. Cotto and Pac were the same size physically. As in height, reach etc. Pac was faster, more skilled.

People are missing a massive point here though: He is not going to be faster. He is not going to be more powerful. He is not going to be more skilled. He is not going to be fighting old, dead on their feet zombies. These are huge, major league ATGs at 147.

Against Duran at 135, that's the only one he could match and have an edge with speed. At 135, Duran was very fast though and speed never troubled him, certainly not against a guy that is going to be standing right in front of him the whole fight. More importantly, he had stamina into next week, more skilled offensively and defensively than Pac, could fight inside, outside, counter or lead (though he was much more of a counter puncher), he was iron chinned, and completely mad.

Again, it's not that Pac doesn't win fantasy matches, it just this one. Freddie Roach agrees with me. He has always said, because it gets asked of him a lot, who he thinks would win this war? He has always said as much as he doesn't want to say it that Duran would win. He was just a bit too versatile, too crafty and ring savvy and he could match Pac with everything that normally wins him fights i.e. non stop offence (Duran's fifteen round non stop aggression is even more intense), his power at lightweight (still holds the record for most consecutive title KOs), his ability to neutralise speed and offence (he was a counter puncher that used offence to bring his own offence inside, break guys down and beat them up) and his defense inside and the ability to slip punches. Not only that, but he fought southpaws perfectly. Right lead, left hook, body punching, etc. He still has one of the best counter right hands you'll ever see. He destroyed every southpaw he faced, apart from Hagler at 160 and Camacho when he was 193 years old.

Tito is an interesting one. Again though, he is just too big. Cotto landed on Pac, Margarito landed on Pac, Clottey landed on Pac etc etc. Tito broke majorly iron chinned guys into bits at 147. If he landed one flush left hook, it is lights out. That's just fact. Pac has a decent chin, but big, natural 147/154 pound, iron chinned fighters were completely annihilated by Tito's left hook and the simple fact is that at 147, he would land it on Pac. Whitaker, even well past it when he fought Tito, still hard better defence than Pac could ever have. He still had to take a lot of shots, and though he has an iron chin he was getting hurt and dropped badly.

These particular fights are just bad for him and unrealistic. If they were at 147 today, Pac would not even be there and we would not even be arguing whether he would. They are just too big. Great big men always beat great little men and while Pac is a good, solid welterweight now, it's not against ATG big welterweights with destructive power, speed and skill. They are all Margarito's height and size, even bigger, but with speed, skill and power that exceeds Pac. Imagine that body shot that folded Pac in half; now imagine if Tommy Hearns had landed that....Pac would not have been able to just skip away out of harm, because Hearns could move around the ring faster than Pac. He would have taken one quick step to the left, cut Pac off in the corner and unleashed a combination that would have Pac utterly unable to throw back or even defend properly and he would get knocked out. Pac wouldn't just be able to throw a ten punch combo with nothing coming back, because Hearns was faster than Pac at 147 and had a foot long reach advantage. Hearns would be landing shots at a range where Pac would be having to take an entire step in before he could land his.

As good as he is he doesn't win these fights.
