Kirk Johnson is arguably one of the 3 most skilled heavyweights in the world, probably the most skilled aside from Toney. Johnson didn't want to fight Toney. What does that tell you about how good Toney is/must be? Don't forget, Johnson has a BIG punch.
Brewster probably hits harder than anyone in the division and he wants nothing to do with Toney. Does that tell you anything?
Vitali Klitschko backed out of a 60/40 split with Toney in which Vitali was getting 60, Toney only 40. Toney is a much bigger name in the sport and is without a doubt the draw. And Vitali didn't want to fight him. Starting to get the picture yet?
John Ruiz got his ass handed to him by Toney and used the steroid deal to suggest Toney would never have beaten him. Aside from David Tua, has Toney ever taken such a bad beating at the hands of an opponent? Are we so ignorant?
Chris Byrd, the remaining heavyweight champion, was placed on a card WITH Toney, serving as the UNDERCARD to Toney. Showtime and the fans know who is better and who is the draw in the heavyweight division? Do we? Are we so blind?
Toney is the man in the heavyweight division any way any of us care to slice it. There is no arguing this. Toney's tuneup is fine. If no one wants to fight him, he's gotta take fights like this not only to stay busy but for the money. Sure, guys like Vitali and Byrd can sit around and hope Toney gets old fast and avoid him until then, but will their victories mean anything if they are to beat Toney in two years? Hell no.
Right here, right now, Toney is the best heavyweight. The responses towards him of everyone else in the division prove this. Are there still doubters out there who can't accept the truth?Comment

fugo, damned you are biased. do you think fighters are the only people involved in matchmaking?
the last word was that the k team was waiting on toney's teams response.
but now he's fighting his mandatory. i'll just say this, if a vk/toney match goes down, i won't lose any sleep over it. even if i bet $1,000 or more on big v.Comment

You bash Klitschko for fighting his mandatories, yet your supporting a James Toney fight against another Rydell Booker? Your bias, and hate keeps on showing. He intends to fight Byrd my ass, thats if Wlad allows that fight to happen. Personally it would give me personal pleasure to see either of the Klitschko's in the ring with Toney, so they could wipe the floors with him.Originally posted by Bozo_no_noRight, because the fact that Toney has been out with injuries as often as Vitali Klitschko, yet this will be his 3rd fight this year,
I can really see how you're disgusted that he's keeping active.
He said on Fox's BDSSP that he's only taking it because Guinn only gave him a sparring work out, and he wants to remain active.
This keeps him in the gym and in training, keeps his weight down, and he'll beat down Calloway with ease.
He said he still fully intends to fight Chris Byrd in late January.
Nothing wrong with fighting once every few months to stay sharp.
Just another trait that makes JT a throw back fighter.
How about Toney starts intending to fight Wladimir or Vitali.Comment

Are you ****** it was Toney who didn't want any part of Vitali. It was Vitali's people who contancted Toney for a fight, not the other way around. Toney backed out the fight after he understood he wouldn't get his 50/50 split.Comment
