The smartest thing Ortiz did was get out of that fight because he can fight another day now. Why risk further damage. I think this is Garcia's version of PR, Bad PR I might add but Victor is still in a very good position. If I was him I would be calling out Berto, Mosley, Khan, Alexander, Maidana, etc. He can still win a title and go after Manny which would put him right back in the ring with Floyd in a mega fight.

In round 4 Ortiz landed a combo with a right
hook landing sending Floyd into the ropes
with his knees dipping out.
Floyd was winning overall but Ortiz had moments.

This guy is getting more delusional by the day. He's nowhere near the trainer his brother is, FACTS.
Also, round 1 was Mayweather, he landed 9 to 5 and landed the harder shots. Round 2 was a toss up. Mayweatehr landed 13 power shots to Ortiz' 8. I scored it even. Round 3 was completely all Mayweather. Round 4, Mayweather was winning the round. You don't get out landed 22-9 before the headbutt and win the round. Just because Ortiz got Floyd on the ropes twice in the last minute, and managed to land 3-4 punches, doesn't mean he was winning the round. Why else do you think he headbutted him???
This guy is saying the first 4-5 rounds is the BEST MAYWEATHER???? Actually it's the last 7 or 8 rounds that are the best Mayweather, and it's usually the first 5-6 rounds that are the BEST ORTIZ. I defy anyone to not agree with that.
The fact is that Mayweather came off a 16 month layoff, at 34 years old, and out landed Victor by like 50 punches so far through just 4 rounds. Mayweather landed 9 punches in the first round, and than he averaged 21 landed punches through rounds 2-4. Ortiz landed 6 punches per round...yeah he was really winning the fight. It wasn't total domination, but what'd you expect??? Ortiz is 24, in his prime, all time high in confidence coming off big wins, out weighed Floyd by 14 lbs. Considering all that. I'd say Mayweather did fairly well in 4 rounds.
If Ortiz' trainer really believes the first 4-5 rounds are the best Mayweather, clearly he never paid too much attention to other Mayweather fights, forgot that Floyd was just off 16 months, and is clearly just saying that for more excuses for Ortiz.
Ortiz had his shot. He needs to bounce back like he did before, and beat some top people to get his stOck back up. Go beat Berto again, or push hard for a fight with Khan next year, or fight a Maidana rematch. Even go and fight Devon Alexander, he's a good fighter in his prime. Saying, "I was just warming up, Mayweather was done and I was coming on" is complete BULLS**t. Everyone knows Ortiz comes out fast and Mayweather comes out slow...and Mayweather still was clearly winning the fight and had won 3 out of 4 rounds, with the 2nd being relatively even.
De La Hoya, Ortiz, and Garcia are turning into jokes to be honest. If Victor wanted it so bad, why'd he smile after he just got knocked out whent he ref resumed action??? He smiles everytime he wants out of a fight....we saw the SAME EXACT SMILE after he quit versus Maidana. That's something Robert Garcia is right about with Victor. The guy doesn't have "IT".Last edited by 4Corners; 10-11-2011, 10:33 AM.

And Floyd doesn't get hit a lot easier versus southpaws. The difference is that, whenever Floyd chooses to fight more toe to toe, he gets hit more. Which is something that should obviously happen when you take on more risk like that.
Mosley hurt Mayweather much more in just a single round, than Ortiz did in 4 rounds. And yet what does that say? Hatton hit Floyd more within the first 4 rounds too. And what does that say? After every Floyd win, we always hear "oh he shoulda, he coulda, woulda, shoulda, coulda, woulda" talks.

AS stated before, I have watched this fight over and over in Slow motion. Garcia is CORRECT !! My favorite announcers favored JR due to the speed of his punches looking like most connected but they DIDN'T !!
Jr on occasions missed by a mile and swung wildly.
Jr. lost the 2nd round.
The pitty pat punches that swarmed Ortiz in the 4 didn't land but on the gloves but maybe one punch.
ORTIZ landed some good shots on Jr.s bald head that gave him the 4th round outside of his ****** headbutt before the Cheap Shot.
The fight was just heating up good, its a shame to end the way it did.
The head butt should never have taken place and neither should the cheap shot.
I don't think Jr wants anymore of ORTIZ, those shots hurt Jr. Yes Ortiz is young but you can know he grew up in this fight !!!!! I hope Jr makes good on his promise to give the rematch. I think he knows that he will get his ass kicked so I don't look for the rematch.

It's one thing if a masterboxer can't hurt the puncher, then the puncher has the chance but if the masterboxer is the one landing the more telling blows, and the puncher is not, it's game over. It's one thing to not be able to overcome a boxer's style, it is another thing to also not be able to overcome his power!!!
