Didn't Martinez make 1.5 mil fighting on hbo against Barker? And they offering 2 mil like its much more than his last paycheck. Good job by Periog peoples attention is on Periog, hope Martinez takes the fight and than unifies the middleweight weight titles.

Do people see the direction boxing has gone into? Martinez fights a guy (Barker) who is actually a decent fighter, who put up a good effort but the fact that no one knew who the guy was and Martinez had the hype. Sergio was labeled as not looking good because the guy had a difficult defense that Martinez had to figure out and break through, which he did and got the KO. So since Martinez had to work for it and took some punches to do it, all of a sudden he is not that good? It's not possible that Barker is a somewhat good fighter? That's how jaded the sport and the fans are. Pirog has been looking not that good in his fights and the only one people talk about is over Daniel Jacobs and Martinez KO'd better guys than that.

I want Martinez to beat this kid up like he would because it's going to be funny reading the comments about how Pirog was overrated and Sergio Martinez needs to fight a tough opponent. It's like a broken record on this site. Posters don't know how to have favorite fighters without hating on the rest. Dimitry Pirog ain't beating Sergio Martinez. I hope he takes the fight. That's what I want to stop the bull**** and let Maravilla school the kid. I know that Maravilla will beat the **** out of Pirog so there's no reason on not taking the fight if the price is right. Forget the venue, HBO will support this fight

I agree 100%. Fans are too impatient. The kid just came on and they pushing for martinez. Im sorry but right now pirog gets beat and maybe stopped late. He really isnt ready yet and fans are pushing when the guy has fought no one. Once again i would love to see the fight but im pretty confident in a martinez win right now so if thats the case i rather the kid get some more fights, some more experience, some more exposure and come back when at the very least it makes more sense money wise and he'll be a better fiighter so he'll also have a better shot.

In saying that, Sergio doesnt have a lot of options, and Pirog is demanding a chance..... if Martinez can secure that same payday on US soil, then he should take it..... if he cannot secure that same payday on US soil, then it is plainly obvious why they want the fight to take place in Russia.
