Do you know why Cuba was so great at amateur boxing? The Russians.

These guys have been a long time coming. They aren't based on brash hype, they are the real deal. They have always been solid amateurs and are starting to transition to becoming solid pros.

I wonder how many Eastern European fighters are in the finals of the world amateur championships tomorrow?

            In Finals
            5 Ukrainian
1 Russian (Medzhidov is from Dagestan in Russia so technically 2)
            2 Kazakh
            2 Azerbaijan (Medzhidov included)

So 6 or 7 out of 20 depending if you count Medzhidov. Was a disappointing tournament for Russia. 10 of 20 if you're talking former Soviet Countries.
