Against common foes, Trinidad was almost always better. He beat younger, better versions of Carr and Campas earlier; beat Camacho years earlier and as decisively; beat a still tough Whitaker, only a year and a half older than he was for Oscar, decisively (Oscar did not); stopped Mayorga and Vargas first (and won more rounds v. Vargas); was tougher physically for Hopkins...I also thought Tito won the De La Hoya fight by a point, even as Oscar fought better for stretches against a weight dying Trinidad.

Add it all up and to me Tito has the edge. The two were both at their absolute prime at 147. Tito was the better Welterweight and overall superior fighter.

ODLH has never been shut out, even when he was on the downside. Sure Tito might have a few more convincing wins, but he has those losses that ATG don't generally have. Being completely whitewashed by Winky's jab lol...

Also, I think ODLH win against Vargas is equally impressive because 1) he is smaller than both of them 2) he didn't have to low blow his way to a win.

I think it was a case where both Tito, and Hopkins, were better that night. Hopkins was almost flawless and Tito threw the kitchen sink. Rounds six and ten were epic. Oscar won a one or two early rounds, but Hopkins fought a much different fight there, almost sleepy, and won whenever he wanted. he didn't have to be perfect and didn't bother trying and Oscar didn't leave everything in the ring like Tito.

So, yeah, Tito was a much tougher and more physical fight for Hopkins.

Crold1, i don't know why Delahoya doesn't get your respect against Hopkins but he was doing very well untill Hopkins landed the left hook. And Hopkins fought a very defensive and cautious fight against Trinidad untill the later rounds when Trinidad slowed down. And lets remember Hopkins "NEVER" accepted a rematch with Trinidad, which is what he wanted untill he finally felt Hopkins wouldn't accept the rematch so he retired (only to come back later).

Yet, ODLH conveniently waited for Trinidad to put a dent in Vargas before ODLH event opted to fight Fernando.

If you remember correctly, it was Vargas calling out DLH from the jump and Oscar wanted no part of it until Vargas lost in dramatic fashion against Tito.

Hopkins was careful; not cautious. He was landing most of the shots and by the sixth it was on. That was a performance for the ages. Hopkins fought DLH like he could beat him whenever he wanted (because he could). Oscar was tactically sound early but never seriously in the fight and Hopkins didn't fight with anywhere near the fire he did for Tito.

Tito was a fight. Oscar a cash out.
