Parodious tries to convince us that Shaver's power was overrated and then mentions Tyson, perhaps the most overrated puncher in heavyweight history, as a harder hitter. That's funny to me.

If Tyson hit anywhere near as hard as Shavers, he would have never lost a fight. Not with his handspeed and defensive skills. Look at how far Shavers got on power and mental toughness alone. He didn't even have a good chin.

Tyson was a formidable puncher but he didn't hit hard enough to win fights with his punch alone, unlike guys like Ruddock, Shavers, Firpo, etc. Tyson almost always took guys out with combinations, and they usually got back up several times in a fight. A great deal of his KO's were actually TKO's in fact.
