Barker came to fight, he did his best. Give the man some credit. He fought as well as he could have expected.

He came to fight, but had his gloves up all night and Sergio's punches and combos were mostly smashing into Barker's gloves. Sergio however had his gloves low all night trying to lure Darren in and counter him.
But Barker never gave much with counter punching, when he did that in the last round, Sergio counter his counters lol and knocked him out.
He got clean rocked twice in the 10th IMO.
At end of the day he did himself proud over there, I haven't seen Martinez box for years still, and the commentators over in England said it's ****ery n they don't really understand how Sergio has somehow got bigger, quicker and stronger with age, whereas Pacquiao always had Bullet fists....... I'm not sayin nuttin about PED's, for me Floyd has been taking them but has been smart about it by not changing the way he boxes..........

Post Fight interview Martinez was saying how he might get a fight on with Hopkins but he isn't sure about moving up to 170. Is it just me or does Hopkins call out everyone in the sport?
He was gettin heated and called out David Haye after the Wlad fight

He came to fight but he was in a highly defensive posture most of the fight. Every time he opened up, he got popped in the face.

fight or survive? is that the serious question?

if by 'fight' you mean go toe-to-toe and trade, then i'd say no, he didn't. but not all boxers enter the ring aiming to trade with whoever is in front of them.

think the question should be 'did barker go to win or survive?'. and i'd say he went to win.

He didn't come to go to war. He came to box. He did a decent job, too. MUCH better than damn near anyone thought he would do.

Barker impressed me last night. He will get bigger fights now and he is a legit world contender. Very good effort from Barker, crazy respect is owed to him

He came to win, no question. What was he supposed to do, change his style? In his first shot at world level just turn into Mayorga?

I think he came to win, but once it became clear that his plan A wasn't going to bring victory he didn't step up the pace or become more aggressive, and didn't change his style, probably because he was already feeling the effects of Sergio's punches and didn't want to gamble when the odds were strongly against him.

So yeah I think he came to win, but ended up getting worn down and beaten mentally as well as physically. Overall I think he deserves some credit, he did better than expected and I probably would rate him higher now than I would've done this time last week.

sorry, i must have been watching the fight with my union jack rose tinted glasses on.

'think he came to win'? **** me, i had one round in it, that's if i didn't have as draw. martinez rocked barker at the end of a round, but barker had his fair of rounds.

of course he came to win. he put more of a ****ing effort in than haye and mosley did put together, last time out.
