Martinez's skill level is no where near floyds. FACT

Watch Pavlik vs Martinez, then watch Pavlik vs BHop

Pavlik although the fight was most one sided landed alot more punches against Serg then he did against Hopkins. Martinez is just an athletic guy thats got good power, speed, and some skills. Bernard has alotta skill and Floyds got the most skill

Footwork- Goes to Floyd. He's more fluent. Martinez seems to get off balance at times and over commits.

Power- Easily Martinez. Floyd hits hard enough to respect. Martinez obviously has one punch power.

Hand speed- Really close. Not sure. Even.

Defense-Floyd's D is the best of a generation.

I always thought this was the best match up for FLoyd of all the fights that could be made. Pacquiao doesnt come with enough to beat Floyd. Martinez will be the first guy thats is much bigger than Floyd and can match speed.

One thing that will hurt Martinez is holding those hands low. Slow guys like Dizzy cant capitalize on it. He and Williams have a non-verbal agreement to brawl it out. Floyd will make him pay for that. Martinez I do believe, can push Floyd around a little. I dont know if FLoyd can adjust to that because he's yet to be bullied.

      Keys to winning /Martinez:

Fight the big man fight. Dont try to outbox him.

If he hurts Mayweather dont go crazy like the rest. Step back, pen point punches.

All the way in or all the way out. Floyd controls distance well so if he not roughing him up inside Make Floyd follow.

      Keys to winning /FLoyd:

Keep it a clean boxing match. Use smart clinches.

Depend on that right. It can land over those low hands all night.

Land, circle left and clinch. Marvilla doesnt square up and wont be in position to throw effective punches.

      Stay off the ropes

Be first. If he waits to counter, Martinez is fast enough to give him big trouble.

At the end of the day I got FLoyd by close decision. No controversy. He may get knocked down for the first time??
wow i can't believe i'm reading a good non biased post on boxingscene ... need more of wherever this came from.

He's really not much bigger than Floyd.

Floyd's arms are longer at 26".

Floyd has fought a lot of smaller opponents such as Marquez. Pacquiao has no problem fighting bigger men like Margarito.
Lmao @ you saying Floyd fought "lot of smaller opponents" but could only name jmm. Bwahahahahahahaha. You fail. And NOONE beats Floyd from 40-54...NOONE

After watching the Ortiz fight, I realized the chances of Floyd beating Sergio are extremely low.

I saw a glaring weakness in Floyd that would end up getting him KTFO by Sergio.

I actually think this is why Sergio was so adamant about getting this fight.

FWIW I had Floyd him via slim UD over Sergio, but now I realize Sergio will probably KO Floyd within 6-8 rounds

Floyd reaches my jaw and sergio is about an inch or two shorter than I am
                im 5'11 1/2
Sergio is way bigger than floyd

                  you are missing the point
Martinez will land on Floyd and will walk right through his punches to get his off
                  Floyd will get KO'd
I cant stand how all you Floyd MOMO's act as if he is untouchable!
he gets tagged look at Mosley and JMM fights
and Ortiz hit him a few good times too
same thing will happen but Sergio is bigger stronger and faster that the above mentioned
so it will be good nite for floyd
but I would give Floyd mad props for taking this fight even when he gets his head taken off

Yeah right, no one wants to fight Martinez at 154. Pacquiao and Floyd are afraid of Martinez and their excuses are he is too big and skillful for them. Martinez is like fine whine, he gets better with each fight.

i actually would favor floyd via decision

he'd find a way to land on martinez
and martinez doesn't do well when he's getting hit.

i think maravilla would take early rounds and maybe touch him up

but eventually he'd take one of his breaks and floyd would step it up and walk him down and land the cleaner punches, especially that right hand.

that being said, i wouldn't favor him very much
i think this would be a very competitive fight
