I went to pick up 2 HD boxes from Fios yesterday and noticed the reps wearing black Floyd/Ortiz Starpower shirts.

I initiated some small chat about the fight and inquired about the shirts.

One rep then pulled a shirt out of a box under his desk and gave it to me.

I thought that was pretty cool.

Ortiz has no chance whatsoever that being said it's 24/7 thats sold this fight and hyped it up to the extent that some people actually think Ortiz has a chance.

The CNN coverage could certainly help. I don't think the hype is close to Mayweather-Mosley. I haven't had anyone call me up to try and watch the fight. They normally do when there's a big fight coming up (casual fans + friends who normally watch MMA). I do know of a couple fight parties being planned. My guess for PPV sales is 800-900k.

The PPV buy rate predictions of boxing fans are pretty useless most of the time. Boxing fans always seem to downgrade the numbers. Look up the early predictions for every Manny and Floyd card and they always land under 1 million.

Crazy, my phone has been blowing up all morning about the fight. I even got people on facebook asking about the fight. It's crazy hyped out here.

I ran into a guy last night that overheard me talking about the fight and we talked for about 15 minutes about it.

Hell Victor Ortiz had a story on the front page of the Kansas City Star yesterday.

I don't think he did make Berto look like garbage. By definition, a FOTY candidate means it was a very competitive fight.

The thing is I live in Brooklyn and work in Manhattan but saw no posters on the train or anything like I saw for Floyd/Mosley/Marquez or Pac/Cotto/Margarito. That weirded me out on the promotional angle.

I've seen the hype for this build up as of late. I mean, everyone is talking about it where I'm from. From the hispanic guys that pick up material at my work, to my homegirls and friends, to all the radio stations going crazy over it. 3 theatres by my house have already sold out of tickets. I doubt it'll push 2 million buys, but I am seeing the hype for this.
