  • ADMIT IT: This Fight is A LOT Bigger Than You Expected!!

A few weeks ago, I heard many people complaining that this fight had no buzz and that the promotion was a dud. There were predictions of 700K PPV buys. Arena was about half-sold. That was in late August, right before the first ep of 24/7.

At the time, this was not a fight that seemed to capture the mainstream, and only had moderate interest among the hardcores.

What made this fight "catch fire"? Was it that Mayweather family feud on the first ep of 24/7? Was it Oscar's confessional interview?

DO YOU FEEL THAT THERE HAS BEEN A GOOD PROMOTIONAL PLAN FOR THIS FIGHT?

I really don't think the hype is there like it was when Floyd fought Mosley. The numbers will probably prove me wrong, but I don't feel it like I did before that fight.

The promotion was great. I saw the commercial like 6 times per hour over the past few weeks. They always played it back to back.

ESPN has been talking about this fight more than any fight I can remember in a couple years...they were even talking about it on College GamDay...good publicity for boxing!

promotion has been fine i think

it's just floyd hasn't fought in a while and when he is absent from the sport, boxing loses a lot of its buzz

I'm surprised because a few weeks ago I thought it might do about a million but the buzz has picked up immensely.

                  Bo,

You are a hardcore boxing fan, and you're in the 99th percentile of boxing knowledge.

You can't use yourself as the barometer.

It has been on CNN every hour or so, that's certainly something I've never seen before. Like I said, the numbers will almost certainly prove I'm in the minority as far as how hyped I am.
