Tyson didn't fight a guy anywhere near the class of a prime and focused Lewis in his "prime".
The closest was an inactive and visably intimidated Lt Heavyweight in Michael Spinks, and an old, out of shape and inactive Larry Holmes. Both Spinks and Holmes hadn't fought in 12+ months when fighting Tyson.
Tyson has always been troubled by tall fighters, and NEVER showed the ability to overcome adversity in fights he was losing, never showing he could make adjustments.
If Lewis comes in motivated and aware of Tyson's power, he ties him up early, and Tyson's frustration and timidty at Lewis' size and power would be his demise.
Tyson was a monster, but he was a bully. Bullies crumble when they're confronted, and a prime Lewis is too big, and most importantly too smart.
Lewis by late stoppage.
Tyson didn't have the mental resolve to beat Lewis or Holyfield at any point in time IMO.
ok. and who told holmes and spinks to fight uummmmmmmm i think when it comes down to it its up to them. so obviously they thought they were ready so dont say they were inactive and out of there prime cause obviously they thought they can take him if they took the fight

It's not Tyson's fault, but the fact reamins the two most significant wins he had in his prime were agaisnt inactive faded fighters.
It just dispells the notion that Tyson was such a world beater in his prime that it's a forgone conclusion he'd have beaten a prime Lewis.
The fact is, he never fought a fighter anywehere near the class of a primed and focused Lennox Lewis in his prime.
Thus, leaving out a Lewis win from this poll is pretty narrow sighted.

are you trying to say larry holmes was in his prime when he faced tyson???
you HAVE to be kidding me
also, the w over spinks isnt that impressive, after all, spinks was a converted light heavy
(also, spinks threw the fight imo. i think he could have boxed with mike and avoided him and maybe even win a few rounds before getting ko'd later. to me, it was obvious to spinks he was going to lose the fight, he just chose to take the least painful route possible. when spinks came out with kneepads on, it was all downhill from there)
Jose Ribalta also basically went the distance with Tyson. Its on teh record books that he was stopped at the end of the 10th round but the stoppage was pretty much nonsense. That was in 1986.

i know holmes wasnt in his prime. but some of u guys make it out to be tysons fault that they stoped fighting for a while(and whos not going to train hard to get a chance to knockout the hw every1 is talking about thats the undisputed champion right now).but holmes choosed to fight tyson so he shoulda had enough preparation for the fight. and spinks was a light weight converted so? he still beat legidamate heavyweights including cooney and holmes and was still undefeated. and he decided to go to hw not any1 else so obviously he had something to prove and obviously he had the power to go up there to the heavies now tyson lurked in the heavies
