Nobody is attempting to claim that Tyson beating Holmes or Spinks while out of their prime is his fault. People bring it up to disolve the myth that Tyson beat them when they were full forced or at their best. Having KO's over fighters out of their prime is meaningless to everybody except Tyson, which is why people feel the need to point out how ****** that logic is.
What Round would Prime Tyson Woulda KOed Prime Lewis?

Tony Tucker went the distance with the Prime Tyson. Why? Watch that fight and you'll see quickly that Tucker's huge frame and "I don't give a **** that your Tyson" attitude kept him in there.
Add Lewis' skills and smarts to Mr. Tucker. The fight gets much more difficult for Mike. Sure it goes the distance again, but it's Mike on the outside getting jabbed to death, clinched when he comes near, and then eats big right hands when he gets frustrated because he can't bully Lewis. A long night for Tyson, losing by UD or on his back.Comment

Dude, Tucker went the distance w/ Tyson 'cause he had a durable chin. Lewis would break w/ the first left hook. Everybody is using the Lewis-Tyson fight as a gauge(understandably so)but if this fight happened pre-Douglas, Lewis would have the tools to beat Mike, but he didn't have the blueprint. The way Lewis pretty much kept Tyson at bay wouldn't be that easy against a fleetfooted Tyson. Lewis would not be able to keep his composure w/ the ferociousness and speed that Iron Mike would bring for a good 7rds. I could see this fight ending in the 1st round by a Tyson k.o. or Tyson taking some good blows but Lewis weakening from the jackhammers Mike has been throwin' around the body, elbows here and there a late k.o. or a battered Lewis w/ a Tyson UD. Against a young and hungry Tyson he wouldn't have time to play chess or in your words "smarts". Imagine Mike putting the finishing touches on Lewis w/ a left hook to the body then a left uppercut, classic(savagery at its finest)! Nuthugger or not that was a thing of beauty.Originally posted by MoonTony Tucker went the distance with the Prime Tyson. Why? Tony Tucker was in fact a tough nut to crack. Never been KO'd and not very often off his feet. That includes Tyson. But doesn't include Lennox, who had him down two or three times I think.Originally posted by rslDude, Tucker went the distance w/ Tyson 'cause he had a durable chin. We'll never know how the Prime Tyson and Lewis would have faired, but you're right we should never use the matchup we got to state how they would have done 10 or 15 yrs earlier.
By the way ... "had the tools but not the blueprint", I'm gonna' use that.Comment

yup. Tyson would KO Lewis early. Listen hurrr. You're theory of hugging opponents won't work errrtime. Lewis had reavch advantage ova Rahaman and McCall, but they still magaed to KO Lewis. Ta point is, a perfect punch is all it takes to KO Lewis and I believe Tyson in his prime landed MANY PUNCHES PERFECT. Lewis would get KOed!!!!Comment
