I think Cotto has had some very good performances.

I just want people to remember he scampered away in three fights where guys were bringing serious heat.

I don't think beating Mayorga and limp Foreman makes him a killer 154 pounder.

Let's look at the crop at 154

Angulo - Cotto beats him at this point just using the jab.
Canelo - Alvarez is a nobody with a lot of hype. Jose Cotto almost dropped him and he is a lightweight.
Lara - Tailor made for Cotto only has one meaningful fight vs Williams
Cintron - Have you seen him in his last two fights?
      Molina - Please!!!!

Even if it is by defeault Cotto is the top 154 pounder and major ranking sites like ESPN and the Ring have him at #1. He is the men to beat in that division and the one who brings the most money.

That's what I've been saying all along except instead of three, it was two. Cotto overcame that heat with Torres.

That's why you're one of my fav posters. You always make good points even when we disagree. Funny thing is that these guys are calling me pro Mexican when 2 others who I think are some of the best on here are PR as well lol.

He brings the money no doubt. If he avenges his Margarito loss, I will be listening.
Lara is tough, Angulo is tough, I don't think he's knocking out Molina but he could beat him.

Cintron shouldn't even be in the equation.

Cotto is ranked by default, not because he beat Yuri or Mayo.

I think he has his hands full with Lara and Angulo as well as Margs.

He can prove a lot. He hasnt yet at 154.

The Ring and ESPN had Margarito as #1 at some point and most of you Cotto stans disagreed.

See I can understand Lara cause he's more of a relaxed pace but you guys think we have a prime Cotto on our hands.

Cintron would murk Cotto with that right hand. With Canelo, if he isn't getting schooled like Gomez and actually does something, as soon as he lands flush after flush, Cotto is going down.

Molina would lose, even though he brings pressure, his pressure isn't to the level of Angulo.

No way can I agree with that. We stilll have the Margarito fight coming up too. I'm not convinced that Cotto can win even at this stage of Margarito's career.

To me, Cotto is a question mark at 154. Beating a Mayo at this stage and a one-legged journeyman in Foreman doesn't tell me he can hang with the best at jmw.

IMHO Cotto still gets hit way to much, and what will prove wether he belongs at 154 is how he handles Marg; If he can't get past Margarito, then he should drop back to 147, a more appropriate weight for him in my opinion.

Cotto never lost to a fighter w/ a 7-33 record like Steroidgio Martinez did.

Ok Cotto is not prime but he is not a shot fighter. He is probably 90% of the guy he used to be the only difference is he is now a Jr MW and is slower than at 140 and 147. But he paces himself better and has more energy in the later rounds so the tank is not empty in the second half othe fight.

Ok I can understand someone making a case for Angulo because of his power giving him a punchers chance bu Cintron? Cintron is really a shell of himself his past two fight have been terrible. There is nothing Cintron can do to Cotto at this point but get ktfo. Canelo is still too green and after he got stunned by Cotto's brother who is a lightweight BTW I question his chin and he is flat footed with no head movement meaning Cotto would hit him with everything and i am not sure he can take it or dish it harder. Lara is tailor ma.de and Molina is average volume puncher
