Obviously if you can use all your limbs fighting becmes something else.
What makes boxing special is that youre limited to just your hands.

    Boxing is a gentlemens sport.
    Boxing is a science..

So i go to the gym to see that it is already pretty crowded and busy. I quickly change and wrap up and begin my loosening up and shadow boxing. While i'm moving about in the ring i could hear some loud voices in the corner where a trainer and boxer were arguing abit. I continue working and eventually the trainer who was arguing with the boxer came over, "my boy wants to work with you". I look over to his man, he was much bigger than i was. Probably weighed around 220-230lbs or so. I weighed about 160 at the time so i shrugged my shoulders and said what ever, lets glove up.

So we start moving and easily sparring, just working easy you know. Then all of a sudden this guy just start trying to tear in hard to me. He pushed me against the ropes and continued unloading bombs with all of his might. For the most part i'm slipping or blocking the blows with my gloves. Then the bright light took over my vision as he landed one of his wild shots. As soon as he was back in focus i rolled a right hand that he widely swung at my head and countered sharply back with a right hand that landed high on his fore head. He dropped his gloves, stood up straight as a board and fell backwards into the canvas. The noise that this man made when going down was sooooo loud. The aerobics class stopped next door as everybody looked through the glass partition to see what had happened. Everybody stopped in the gym too. The guy just laty there. "i told him he didn't want none of you..." the trainer stepped into the ring and continued, :as soon as you walked in this guy said that he wanted to fight with you. I told him that he was mistaken but the guy just kept on about it so i let him have what he wanted." the trainer shook his head as he kneeled down beside the fighter who was coming too on the canvas, "i told him that you wasn't somebody to be messed with like that but he said that he had to fight with you."

never under estimate the powers of a skinny white boy who looks like he couldn't fight a lick.......rockin'

Who has ring more ring/boxing knowledge, puga or sweet science18?

What is the maximum weight difference in the pros allowed between two fighters fighting in the 147lb division?

What Featherweight holds the IBF record for most title defenses at that weight?

What great fighter used to call his right hand "The Hot Rod"?

How many corner men are allowed on the apron in between rounds in an amatuer bout?

In a furious exchange in the last few seconds of the round fighter A nails fighter B in the jaw as the bell rings. Fighter B falls to the canvas. What does a referee do at that point?

What length of gauze are you allowed to use on a hand in an amatuer bout.

How much tape may you use over the knucles for an amatuer bout? And for a pro bout?

                Lets see who knows what..............Rockin'

I boxed for a couple years when I was 12-14 years old at the Somerville Boxing Club in Massachusetts. Future WBA hw champion John Ruiz trained out of that gym and I remember seeing him there with none other than Norman "Stoney" Stone. Anyway, I trained there for a few years and I had one amateur fight against a kid named Jeff Fraza. Recently I just learned that this kid went professional and did a stint on reality show "The Contender." Here's his boxrec page:

                  http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hum...1380&cat=boxer

There's a good story behind my first amateur fight but I'm a little too drunk to type it...

Also, I started back training at the boxing gym about two years ago and I'm finally getting some good technique. I sparred about a month ago and am planning to 'lace 'em up' again in the future....

                      to the muy thai guy

ive done thai boxing in thailand and thai boxers have no lateral movement headmovment and they dont tend to be very good with thier hands either its not nearly as scientific and they just go punch for punch and kick for kick head on... a ggod boxer who conditions himself for leg kicks and learns how to thai clinch beatsa thai boxer

                      big skill level difference

they have more weapons but short upercuts to the jaw get there fistbefore a elbo and the elbo is harder but the punch gets more leverage

boxing is also more entertaining IMO

more weapons doesnt equal more skills
