because he had a pretty big cut on his eyelid. rewatch it, it wasn't because of the swelling below his eye, that was a part of it, but i think it was mainly due to that cut on his eyelid. he would have been fighting berto with one eye. i think he had a cut on the other side of his face too. i tried to upload a picture of it right now, but it quickly got removed.

That's true, he did have a cut on the eye lid. I remember that. But my thing is no one even put a dent in stopping the bleeding.

Heck, I could've went in there and not stopped the bleeding. What's the point in paying a cut man?

Fighters fight with swollen eyes all the time. Jan's left eye was fine, but his right eye was swollen pretty bad. It was the blood that was running into both eyes, that was the problem.

Had the cutman done his job, he would've been able to stop the blood from running in his eyes.

But his right eye was swollen pretty much shut, with a bad cut and his left eye was also damaged

i think his corner probably did the right thing - maybe let him go one more round just to see how he could perform. but ultimately they were smart by looking after him.

The fight was very close, but Berto was slightly edging out most of the rounds - I gave Zavec the 4th. But there was still an entire half of the fight to go, so it wasn't fair to Zavec at all. And NO WAY Berto will ever give him a rematch. . . Im not sure if the headbutt caused it, or contributed to it, but Berto definitely did rush in with that dome piece. All real boxing fans know Berto didn't really "WIN" that fight. But it is what it is.

how do you stop a cut on your eyelid when you have to blink, he'll get socked again and it'll reopen and get worse. i understand if it's on the eyebrow or below the eye, but it was directly on his eyelid. and it was a straight line cut, not swollen up and bleeding. i think it was a headbutt perhaps, berto must have had the best uppercuts last night to form a straight line cut like zaveck got. idk man, it's kind of strange of how the hbo crew didn't even dwell on that. oh well, berto's got the belt now, i say he gives zaveck a rematch, it was really turning out to be a great fight. that or a collazo bout
