Damn shame it happened that way. I had Zaveck winning by a round, and Berto didn't exactly look like he was coming on. I would love to see a rematch, it sucks Zaveck lost his belt that way.Comment

If it would not be for an - probably accidental - headbut, Zaveck would of won this fight in the next few rounds. It was his plan to open up in the second half of the fight and frankly, it was obvious that he was a better fighter in this fight.
But that is boxing, i guess. Berto's constant head-jumping-in aswell as Zaveck's high guard and boxing from a close distance, did not help to a situation. Anyway, at least i see why some top fighters do not want to fight against Berto - it is simply, too risky. I do think that Zaveck did not deserve this, but i think that his time is still to come. He has probably came out of this fight, stronger than ever.Comment

Who said that it was a headbutt? Wasn't no headbutt. Them cuts came from Berto connecting on Zaveck face throughout them 5 rounds. Not once did Jan complain about a headbutt or the referree. Berto did damage on homie's face bottomline. If it would not be for an - probably accidental - headbut, Zaveck would of won this fight in the next few rounds. Ok, now I see it in slow motion about the head butts. Zaveck should have complained. Watching the fight in regular speed, you would never know.If it would not be for an - probably accidental - headbut, Zaveck would of won this fight in the next few rounds. Nah, he has already said that he will not do it. He is a fair and big hearted fighter, who does not search for excuses - even though, everyone can see that he did not get bloody, from the punches. Of course, after major damage was done by a headbut, it was just getting worse and worse. He could not see anything on one of his eyes, since the blood was going into it very quickly, as he said.
If referee has "failed to see it", at least Zaveck's corner did. This was a smart stoppage, from them. Even though there is a slight chance that Zaveck could of recovered, it would not be even close to a fair fight, after his face became a bloody mess in one minute.Comment

plus the other Gif clearly show Zavec having a clean face/eye and as soon as the headbutt lands he cringes in pain and his face swells up like crazy. I have never seen that happen from a punch so fast. With a punch it will create a cut and then a fighter works a cut until the blood streams down like crazy (like the one on his eyebrow, that was from a punch), but it wasnt the one on his eyebrow that stopped the fight, his whole eye balooned up after that headbutt and it took like 20 seconds to reach that stage. I think Berto broke his nose with the headbutt and got a piece of the eye/cheeck.
Very sad, Berto was already tired by round #4. He was gasping for air and walking slow to the corner, Zaveck landed more shots and the heavier shots as berto was open. Berto did have some combinations but Zaveks game plan was to take Berto deep and then put the pressure on him.
Everyone could tell Berto wasnt going to make it to the 12th round, he already had his hands down and mouth wide open.
and Jan isnt the type of guy to complain, he will never say anything bad about anyone, even if you rob him he will still treat you nicely. HBO guys said he was the nicest boxer they have met.Comment

yeah i thought zaveck was biding his time abit and was about to come on stronger in the second half pity we never got to see that because it looked like it could have become a really good fight
berto really doesn't impress me much other than his willingness to let his hands go i think a more seasoned fighter with some speed and power would take him to school
infact i go as far as to say that if he fought shane when he was supposed to mosley would have adminstered a savage beating on him
i don't much like him but he is exciting to watch and i'll be checking for his next fight for sure
hope zaveck can get more exposure on HBO he deserves it (it won't happen though)Comment
