Single shot power Wlad has more than anybody in the sport's history. Tyson is just a smaller man, more mobile and aggressive yes, but less weight and leverage.Comment

I totally agree.
Wlad is a big ass dude, of coruse he will hit ahrd, but his style means he doesn't always go for the shots when he could.
AKA Rahman was so hurt, think Tyson would wait and wait?
Vitali for me is the stronger fighter on style, even if he may not hit as fast and hard, he does go for you.Comment

I think the thing to look at here is trends. You're always going to find the odd china chinned guy who's built like a tank, and vice versa, but provided you're not obese then I think it's fair to say that a 240lb man is going to be harder to KO than a 180lb man of similar relative build.Shavers also badly hurt Ali and Holmes, who were well known for having excellent chins, not to mention he beat Norton, Bugner and Young.
Having more weight does not=having a better chin. Unsurprisingly, the most difficult opponent to knock out that Vitali and Wladimir faced was Byrd, who was a blown up Heavyweight at best.
Also notice that the only three opponents that have gone the distance with Wladimir in the past 5 years are Ibragimov and Haye. surprise surprise, they are also some of the lightest opponents hes faced. Chambers also almost made it the distance before that cracking left hook.
Meanwhile, Wladimir has knocked out every opponent over 220lbs that he has faced.(in the past 5 years)
and do I really have to bring up the multiple heavy guys that have **** chins at HW? or cant punch for **** despite weighing heavier than most HWs?
point is: a guy that weighs 240lbs does not magically have a better chin than a guy that is 210lbs. hell, a lot of the time extra(fat) weight makes you easier to knock out. even on Wladimir's own record that shows up, so its not 'nostalgia'.
BTW, Ibragimov and Haye weren't KOed because they actively took steps to avoid the punishment their less mobile opponents received; that's fairly obvious I think, and has little bearing on their chins.Comment

If anything I'd say Tyson's power gets underrated nowadays. He was a phenomenal puncher. It's one of the main reasons so many people fell in love with him in the first place, became fanboys, overrated the hell out of him and now receive the backlash of the boxing community.tyson is and was a bad ass mofo and is my fav heavyweight fighter of all time!! but i think theres a lot of hype with tyson regarding him hitting the hardest.. if u look at a lot of tyson's opponents they lost the fight already before the fight even started so it makes tyson seem like he was a bad ass dude who has unreal power, when in reality his power is no difference from the next heavyweight.. dont get me wrong one punch from tyson will lay my azz out lol but to say tyson is the hardest hitting heavyweight is saying to much..Comment

Sorry, there's very little in the way of hard evidence to back this up. Wlad's had numerous fights where he was hitting guys flush on the chin with his right hand over and over again (1st Peter fight, 2nd Brester fight, Thompson fight) and either stopped them on accumulation, or by catching them right on the button. His one punch power is pretty overrated IMO.Comment

Again based on what? He has the KOs against Chambers, Thompson, Shufford and Brock. OK, fair play to him for that, but are these wins alone enough to justify that claim? I really don't think so. Why could Wlad not emulate Lennox's win over Rahman? After all he had a much slower, fatter and older Rahman in front of him to do it to and was catching him clean. Why was Peter able to absorb right hand after right hand for twelve rounds, but gets put on ***** street and nearly stopped by McCline? Why was Brewster able to take such punishment without going down in their rematch? He was getting strafed with full power shots, and Brewster, tough as he is, is not immune to getting rocked. Wlad's nowhere near as overrated as a one-punch artist as someone like Shavers is, but he still gets overrated like hell.Comment
