Both fighters are semi/shot. And both would get smashed by Sergio Martinez. Cotto asking for a catchweight indicates he lacks confidence. Cotto is the champ at 154. Cotto should defend it at 154.

I have yet to hear Cotto's side on this (none of you have). For the past week or 2 it has been Steve Kim, Roberto Garia and Diaz (Margarito's camp). Not one source from Cotto's camp and Also, Arum confirmed the fight was at 154 and that alll the weight talk was BS.

I see the mind game side of it but still, Margarito was probably going to come in below 154 anyways (maybe 153. 5) or something like that so I dont see much mind game being played here (especially with 153). Who knows, maybe steward is behind all of this. I still need to hear this from Cotto or his camp at least before quickly jumping to a conclusion.

Well that's where you're wrong, and think about it, Cotto's title has a weight max of 154, but it isn't exclusively a "154 lb title" as you say, or else how come fighters all the time weigh in under the weight limit and aren't penalized.

I'm not a fan of catchweights in the least, but you're very confused if you're calling Cotto's title exclusively a 154 lb belt. That's just the weight max for Junior Middle and of course boxers can fight for a belt weighing 153 or 150 even 151.5
