Has Larry Merchant Ever Been Happier Than When Jones Was KO'd For 1st Time?

Larry Merchant was extremely biased here, borderline racist. Larry seems to want all fighters, but black fighters in particular, to be in these helacious wars for his gratification. He also seems to hate when certain black fighters express themselves and tout their own virtues.Comment

But this is what I don't understand.Larry Merchant was extremely biased here, borderline racist. He also seems to hate when certain black fighters express themselves and tout their own virtues.
How can a so called neutral commentator express joy when Pavlik puts J Taylor in the hospital, but when Hopkins puts hands on Pavlik create excuses on weight issues and how the fight should've never been made? This is just 1 of the many examples of Merchant's biased views.
I say "neutral" commentator because I thought it was suppose to be unbiased.Comment

I'd hate Roy Jones too if I was Larry Merchant. Whenever he's on the broadcast, you can hear Jim Lampley fawning over him. Lampley doesn't even give a ****. Merchant will be talking about something, Lampley will interrupt him in the middle of his sentence and ask Roy a question about what Merchant was talking about, even ending the question with "Roy," just in case Merchant gets any funny ideas. While it's hilarious to listen to, I imagine it gets pretty old for Larry.Comment

Lampley and Foreman were the only ones to standup to Merchant. Steward might for a sentence or 2, but instead of holding his ground, he'll turn around and agree with him. WTF lol?I'd hate Roy Jones too if I was Larry Merchant. Whenever he's on the broadcast, you can hear Jim Lampley fawning over him. Lampley doesn't even give a ****. I'm now actually intrigued to go back and listen to Merchant's stances in fights with white vs. black fighters...Comment
