    hes more than prooven himself
    my #3p4p fighter
Have to give SM his credit and the guy is good. I think he's boarder line. Let’s look at his resume. He has 51 fights and only 4 people we know of, win or lose. Paul 2, Cintron, Kelly and Rito early in his career. He just started putting decent people on his resume in the last years or so. Were have he been all this time? Besides the 4 people I mention, who and who have they fought? Hmmmmmm. He’s doing his thing right now and not ready to jump for joy. Paul/Kelly have know defense and not hard to hit. Cintron has know heart but still came out to be a draw and Rito ran straight through him.

      Overated....

      1) Beat Paul Williams who is just not a good fighter
      2) Got a draw with Cintron, an ESPN fighter
      3) Beat Kelly "The Duck" Pavlik (big deal)
      4) Lost to Margarito

He hasn't fought anyone impressive imo.

        1) Fair enough.
        2) He really won that fight.
        3) How else was he to get the belts.
        4) Years ago.

He gets the props he deserves from most fans.

so to answer your question no, he isnt

          pavlik, cintron, williams etc.
I will say hes not crap but come on man...Pavlik Cintron and Williams are far from great fighters. Pavlik (who is one of my favorite fighters) Hasn't done anything since he beat Taylor. Cintron is only decent at best and Williams was never that good either. Hes a decent name but nothing more. Yet that makes him top 5 pound for pound?

He's a good fighter, just not the fighter people give him credit for. He took a lot of unnecessary shots from a slow handed fighter in Zbik as well.

If he moves up in weight and beats some of those top guys I would be more impressed.

Only by those who claim he's the p4p #1 fighter in the world, and there's more than a few of those. He's a clear fourth IMO.

Most of the people that think he's overrated r Pacquiao fans that need to make excuses as to why Pac doesn't want to fight him

Most of the people that overrate him r Floyd fans that think Pac is ducking him

No I don't think he's overrated, although him and Donaire certainly can switch spots in the p4p list, and I wouldn't mind

If he loses his next fight, people would say yes he was given credit prematurely. Whereas if Pac loses, people can say hes been at the top so long, of course there would be a time he would have to lose. But having said that Pac haters would say i told you Pac was overated if he loses his next fight.

Even though Pac has been around for donkeys years doing it.
                    You're living in fanatsyland.

Pacquiao was hiding out fighting nobodies in southeast Asia for the majority of his fights, and he didn't fight ANYONE that you can name before his 41st fight which came against Barrera. Before then Manny Pacquiao had been knocked out by C & D club fighters.

Pacquiao has 17 fights since then, one of which he lost. A few of them were catchweight fights in a division where he could have made the weight. His fights against Marquez were gifts as Marquez truly won both, but Pacquiao got a draw and then a gift decision.

Then, the ultimate disgrace came when Pacquiao had Arum have Texas unban Antonio Margarito DURING HIS BAN SENTENCE so that Margarito could compete against Manny for a jrMW vacant title that neither man was in line to compete for. Then Pacquiao had the balls to call himself an 8 division champion.

Pacquiao is a 3 division champion and a 5 division titlist. Five of those 8 belts were vacant titles and he did NOT beat a champion for them. Therefore he cannot be considered a champion. Only a titlist.

That's being on top? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Being on top is meaningless if your competition isn't on top as well!

40 fights that were nothing but excessive padding for a record.
5 fights against 5th ranked boxers to "establish dominance".
1 fights against a 4th ranked who was "given" a vacant belt to lose to Manny
2 fights against Marquez that he really lost.
                    1 loss to Morales

So when you do the math 9 out of Pacquiao's 17 fights since leaving southeast Asia were losses or hype jobs.

That ain't dominance. That ain't longevity at the top either considering that Marquez and Barrera were the only #1 fighters that Pacquiao has faced in his entire career.

                    And guess what?

That's still better than what Sergio Martinez has accomplished!

For me there is the act of giving the guy props and respect and the act of acting like he's some destructive beast that will roll over almost anyone that gets put in their way - two completely different things and two which get confused and mixed up quite often. The latter seems to be happening quite frequently in online forums, where people refer to Sergio as this beast fighters better avoid because it's almost a guaranteed lost for them.

The guy is good, don't get me wrong... but I don't see why he gets brought up as this guy who has a high chance of beating the top fighters out there. He's had some impressive ways of beating certain opponents but het hasn't had such an impressive career to consider him to be that great. The guy hasn't headlined his own PPV for gods sake, he hasn't fought many big names out there like the elite ones have. You earn the reputation by action, not by imagination or assumptions.
